As 60% of our body is made of water, it acts as a carrier of essential nutrients inside our body. Loosing as little as 5% of body's weight as water can cause headache, fatigue and lower your muscle strength. To stay healthy, an adult should drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Balanced Diet= 60% Carbohydrates + 20% Fats + 20% Proteins 1. Carbohydrates: Our main source of energy. Stored in liver and muscles. Carbohydrates are used the most by our body duringexercise. Hence, it is important for people who exercise regularly to consume a diet rich in carbohydrates. (a) Instant/rapid carbohydrates energy sources: Banana, Milk, Sweets, Sugarcane juice. (b) Slow carbohydrates energy sources: Beans, Bread, Cereals, Potato, Pulses, Rice. 2. Proteins: Essential for growth, repair of muscle, skin, hair and body tissues. Protein deficiency leads to low immunity, hairfall, feeling of tiredness. Proteins are not stored in our body as any excess protein is converted to energy or fat. Hence, a person requires protein intake every day. When the body does not get enough carbohydrates to fuel itself, it falls back on protein bank. That is why people who follow starvation diets or go on fasting lose muscle tissue. (a) Major protein sources: Egg white(white portion), Milk, Soybeans/Soymilk, Fish, Cheese, Tofu. Excess fat leads to weight gain, increase in bad cholesterol (LDL) and heartproblems (a) Major fats sources: Egg yolk (Yellow portion), Avocados, Whole Milk, Butter, Cheese, Nuts. (b) Other fats sources: Corn, Vegetable/Olive oil, Biscuits, Flaxseeds(San Beej). 4. Vitamins and Minerals: Critical for normal functioning of organs and processes within our body. They do not provide energy directly but work behind the scenes to break down food into energy. 5. Fiber: It helps retain water and in making our stools softer to avoid constipation. Intake should be 25 to 35 grams a day. 6. Calories: A measure of how much energy food or drink contains. On an average, a man needs around 2,000 calories a day and a woman 1700 calories a day to maintain his weight and good health. Number varies by person depending upon weight, age and how active the lifestyle is. 7. Guideline: Each day have 3 main meals, 2 snacks, 5 pieces of fruit and at least 1 glass of milk.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To build your body you have to have a well balanced diet with more of proteins & do regular exercises including lifting weights - do not go for supplements as they may affect your kidneys & liver in the long run instead increase your protein intake in your diet - some protein rich foods are eggs, milk & milk products like cheese, paneer, yogurt, butter milk, soya products, tofu, soyabeans, legumes including pulses, peas, non veg such as seafoods, chicken, meats, nuts such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios, cashews, peanuts - add some protein food in all your meals, also have snacks in between meals - have 8-10 glasses of water per day for proper digestion - do regular exercise like jogging, swimming for 20-30 min on most days, on alternate days do moderate weight lifting which will help build muscles, also do resistance exercise like pushups, pull ups to build chest muscles.

Migraine and Its Homeopathic Management!

Migraine is a type of headache and is characterized by headache on one side of the head. In many cases of migraine, the pain is experienced all over the head and not just on one side. The pain is throbbing in nature. Migraine is mostly caused due to excess stress. Going out in the sun, improper sleep, exposure to loud noise and disruption in eating patterns are other common causes, which lead to migraine. Homeopathic medicines are widely used for treating migraine headaches and provide an effective remedy.

Here are some homeopathic medicines used for curing migraines of different types:

  • Belladonna: This is the best homeopathic medicine for migraine which is accompanied by intense throbbing headache. A sense of fullness is also felt in the head, and the headache worsens when exposed to sunlight. Belladonna is also used for migraines developed due to exposure to cold air or catching a cold.
  • Glonoinum: This form of homeopathic medicine is used for migraines where there is an excessive congestion in the head. The patient might feel that the head would burst, and it seems to be bigger. Heat is felt around the head, and the eyeballs get protruded. Glonoinum is also used to treat migraines, which occur because of long exposure to the sun.
  • Spigelia: This medicine is very effective for curing migraines felt on the left side of the head or left-sided migraine. The headache is usually located over the left temporal area of the head, forehead and eyes. The patient may have the sensation of a tight band being tied around their head.
  • Sanguinaria Canadensis: This is a perfect homeopathic medicine for treating right sided migraines where the pain and throbbing are felt on the right side of the head. The pain usually starts from the back of the head and settles over the right eye, affecting the entire right side of the head. The medicine is also prescribed in case of headaches, which occur during the morning and increase during the day. Migraines in women after menopause are also cured by this medicine.
  • Iris Versicolor: This is an effective homeopathic medicine for treating migraine where intense nausea, vomiting and acidity are observed. The vomiting is acidic, sour and bitter in taste and a burning sensation in the alimentary canal is also felt.
  • Nux Vomica: In case of migraines characterized by gastric problems, this medicine is used. It provides an effective cure for migraines, which occur due to indigestion, constipation and piles. When the migraine worsens after intake of spicy food or alcohol, this medicine provides quick treatment.

I am 2.5 month pregnant. My weight is 55 before pregnancy and after it is 57 which is I think ok. After my blood test Dr. Said my tsh is 8.40 which could be less than 5. I dont have any symptoms of thyroid. But then also as prescribed by Dr. Thyroup 25 I took for two days. But I got loose motions (8 in a day) and fast heart beat. So I did nt take another dose. What should I do? should I wait for three months to complete and go another test. How does it harm my baby? please suggest. Urgently. I dont want to eat medicine please.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to allergy or sinusutis - avoid cold fluids, have more of warm fluids like water, tea, coffee, milk (mix 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder in a cup of milk & have twice a day), soup - avoid exposure to dust & cold weather - do steam inhalation three times a day - do warm salt water gargles if there is pain or irritation in the throat three times a day - take tab levoceririzine, 5 mg, 1 tab in the evening - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables, have 7-8 glasses of water for proper hydration, do regular walking, jogging, yoga, deep breathing for 5-10 min in the morning to boost your immunity - instill 2-3 drops of normal saline Sol in each nostril three times a day. -

Dear Sir/Madam, My Wife having a 14th week of running pregnancy. We regularly consult our gynecologist on every 15 day. My wife's running medicines are Thyronorm, Sustain 400 and rovamycin. Recently she had having started acidity issue. We also consult the same to our doctor. My doctor advice to stop to take/drinking of Milk as Milk is the reason for acidity. Also do not give any importance to advertisement that mention that masturbation cause health problems or destroys life, and masturbation does not require any treatment.
