My mother (65yrs) have has lower back problem, i was asked to take an MRI, after seeing the report, i was advised to go for antidiural injection is it safe? Are there any other alternatives which can relieve her from pain.

Master of Physical Therapy MPT CARDIO, BPTh/BPT

Dear. age, height, weight.muscle mass. activities all maters... if you take injections also pain will go temporary.... take physiotherapy consultation and take lumbar traction + ift modalities.. and some exercise... but better not to go for that. only in very severe pain unbareble pain for 2 days then only take injection.

What To Expect Post An Enlarged Prostate Surgery?

What To Expect Post An Enlarged Prostate Surgery?

Enlarged prostate surgery is a very common type of surgery that many have to undergo nowadays. An enlarged prostate causes many health problems including urinary tract obstructions and urinary tract infections. It may also lead to the passing of blood via urine. Thus, enlarged prostate must be treated as soon as possible as neglect may lead to prostate cancer and its associated health issues. There are various types of prostate surgeries that a doctor performs on his/her patients. However, of late, radical prostatectomy is the most popular of them all.

What is Radical Prostatectomy?

This process can be handled in two ways. Firstly, the prostate can be reached through an incision in the abdomen. This would help the doctor work with precision and carefully avoid all the other nerves and muscles in the area the operation take places. The prostate is examined and any nodule or lymph formed over it is carefully removed. The advantage of this surgery is that the patient is less likely to suffer from any erectile problems post- surgery. The second option would be to make an incision between the scrotum and the anus. This process is best for those who are obese. The surgery is performed quickly and there is less loss of blood. Furthermore, the healing time is less too.

How To Recover From The Surgery?

Like most other prostate operations, even in radical prostatectomy, you would have to wear a catheter till you recover completely. For a few days post the surgery your urine would be collected through a urine bag attached to the catheter. One might feel a little sore in his/her genitals after the surgery, but that is quite normal to occur. The soreness is caused due to the surgery and the incisions made and would heal in a matter of a few days. Interestingly, since the urethra plays an important role in this surgery, the catheter has to be in place for at least two to three weeks but the patient can be discharged after a two to three night stay at the hospital. It is advised that the patient takes ample rest. But this does not mean all rest and no work. In fact, it is seen that patients can walk a little and even go back to a normal diet within a week to ten days of the operation. But regular checkups, till the urethra is healed, are compulsory.

Hence, these are some of the recovery procedures after an enlarged prostate surgery. Such surgeries are quite common and heal quickly. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Sir/mam. My friend have anxiety problem. Nd day by day its increasing. Plss tell me the bst treatment for her.
Anxiety is a very normal emotion, which gives rise to feelings of nervousness every now and then. An anxiety disorder is a serious medical condition in which people experience a high degree of distress and mental trauma, which hinders a normal life. People suffering from this medical condition experience high levels of anxiety and nervousness almost all the time. Here are the cardinal symptoms that indicate you're suffering from anxiety disorder. 1. Troublesome & Excess worry - This condition prevails if you worry about the day to day activities too much on a regular basis. It is identified when you start taking too much stress about very common and routine things, related to life or work which tends to affect you in an adverse way. A noticeable sign of excessive worry can be too much fatigue. 2. Lack of Sleep/irregular, disturbed sleep - Problems in falling asleep at the right time and problems in maintaining an uninterrupted sleep are two signs that indicate you have an anxiety disorder. 3. Baseless / Irrational fears - This symptom is not generalized; instead, it is specific and subjective in relation to a particular thing or situation. The fears that are experienced under this category are sudden and unexpected in nature and there is no fixed rationale behind these fears. One may ear of death or accident or fall from a plane and so on .... 4. Muscle pain - Muscle discomfort and pain is one of the leading physiological causes of an anxiety disorder. The pain felt is chronic and pervasive, and is very common among people facing situations of anxiety. If you are exposed to constant periods of anxiety, you will experience fatigue, muscle pains and lethargy or unwillingness to work. 5. Unexplained indigestion - Problems related to the digestive system are also a sign of anxiety disorder. In this case, you may face constant digestive problems accompanied by a common disorder called IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). IBS refers to an anxiety situation in the digestive tract, which is characterized by sudden urge to defecate on eating, stomach aches, cramping, bloating, gas, constipation, and/or diarrhoea. Apart from the above-mentioned symptoms, other symptoms of an anxiety disorder include stage fright, self- consciousness, panic attacks, memory flashbacks, perfectionism, compulsive behaviours, self- doubt, and such others. Hi, milk, barley and fruit juices are ideal in this condition. Especially, diluted orange juice 2 to 3 times daily is helpful. Make sure the diet is balanced yet bland. It should be soft, healthy and easily digestible. Intake of salt, spices, oily and fatty foods need to be reduced drastically. As temperature usually goes high around evening/ night, do plain water sponging (whole body) till it is brought to normal. Ensure that the soles and palms are warm while you attempt to bring down temperature with sponging. While you resort to the above-mentioned safe and natural treatment, do also continue with your allopathic treatment as advised. Hope this helps. You may connect with me in private to discuss and come up with a natural treatment plan that suits your son in particular and gives him a sustainable relief and help recover faster from this very ailment.
