You need to go back to the GP who prescribed this medication to you to get it revised. Make healthy modification in your lifestyle like getting 45 mins of exercise which includes walking, simple cycling, climbing stairs, pranayama and meditation. You can make variations in daily routine so you do one each day to make it interesting. Make sure you get adequate salt, preferably rock salt in your diet. It is correct that you have to reduce salt, but some salt is essential for proper blood vessel health and other metabolism. These foods will help regain circulation health. Pomegranate juice 3 times a week. Coconut water daily. Honey as a topping on green salads. Proper Vitamin ACE either in food (preferable) or as supplement tablets that are of minor dosage. Try these for a month and do tell the changes in your health. For more information, take a consultation with us at Health Solutions.

High Blood Pressure and Kidney Disease - Causes and Symptoms!

MBBS, MD - General Medicine, DM - Nephrology, DNB (Nephrology)

High Blood Pressure and Kidney Disease - Causes and Symptoms!

Causes and Symptoms of Renal Hypertension

High blood pressure is characterized by an increased force that the blood exerts on the blood vessels when it moves through the body. Renal hypertension is a blood pressure disorder where the arteries that carry blood to the kidneys become narrow, as a result of which the blood pressure through these vessels increases.

Causes

It is caused when the arteries that supply blood to the kidney get narrow or get blocked. This can cause the kidney to release specific hormones that signal the body to retain water and sodium. This can put additional pressure on the blood vessels which leads to increased blood pressure. It can also be caused by atherosclerosis which is characterized by hardening of the arteries. Improper development of the arteries can also lead to renal hypertension.

Symptoms

The symptoms of renal hypertension are:

  • Feeling confused
  • Blurred vision
  • Regular headaches
  • Bleeding from the nose
  • Gradual decline in kidney function
  • Possible long-term damage to the kidney
  • Feeling lethargic and drowsy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Dryness in skin
  • Muscle cramps
  • Breathing difficulties

Treatments

The diagnostic procedure for this disorder consists of blood, urine, doppler ultrasound and CT angiography or MR angiography tests. Treatments for this disorder usually include medications to ease blood pressure. Preventive measures include modifications in lifestyle such as following a proper diet, limiting smoking, restricting sodium or salt in the diet and following an exercise regimen. Steps should also be taken to reduce stress. Yoga and meditation are highly beneficial to control the condition. Sometimes intervention is needed in the form of PTRA and stenting.

Signs Of A Heart Attack

MBBS, PG Diploma in Clinical Cardiology
Cardiologist, Gurgaon
Signs Of A Heart Attack

With recent lifestyle changes, more and more people, younger in age, are falling prey to heart attacks. While some silently suffer the attack during their sleep and never wake up, others have symptoms which they dismiss as acidity or muscular pain and ignore them. There are multiple media programs that are trying to create awareness about how to identify a heart attack. If done at the right time, there is a good chance that the person can be saved.

What is a Heart Attack?

The blood vessels gradually narrow, reducing the blood flow to the target organs. This reduces the efficiency of the target organ, and if this happens to be the heart, it is known as a heart attack. The area that should ideally receive blood does not, leading to its “death.” If the damage is not severe, it can be reversed. However, if this attack happens in one of the critical areas of the heart, it can even be fatal.

Symptoms To Watch For: Very few attacks happen suddenly. Most start slowly and progress, and if identified on time, a life can be saved. The episode takes about an hour, and if you are well-versed with the symptoms, it could help identify the condition correctly and save a life. Most people use antacids and muscle relaxants to ease the situation, which does provide immediate relief, but not a proper cure.

  1. There is a central pain which is constant, nagging, and has a squeezing like sensation. This causes discomfort and most often, this pain is in the center of the chest area, which lasts for just a few minutes. Sometimes the pain can go and come back. This pain radiates down into the arm, up into the neck area, and also into the jaw and is almost always indicative of a heart attack.

  2. With chest pain, there is always shortness of breath which the person will experience. This is due to reduced oxygen levels in the body.

  3. Associated symptoms include fatigue, exhaustion, nausea, dizziness, light-headedness.

  4. There is almost always profused sweating where the person breaks into a cold sweat.

  5. If the attack happens during sleep, the person may be snoring and may feel, as if something is choking his airway.

  6. Due to reduced return of blood from the peripheral organs, there could be swelling of the feet and ankles.

  7. If there is irregular heart beat (palpitations) very often, talk to a doctor about it.

When you suspect a person of having a heart attack, check for these signs. Very often, a heart attack is detectable and can be managed with timely intervention.

Dear sir, it's not necessary that you will have symptoms if your bp is high. High bp can be completely asymptomatic. Coming to your case you should consider lifestyle measures like exercise, dietary salt restriction, stress management, smoking cessation if you do etc apart from medicines.

Hi lybrate-user, it seems you are suffering from panic anxiety. There are not tests for this since its entirely due to brain acitvity and no deformity. Its an anxiety disorder and sure shot curable. It has two modes of treatment first is medication for which you should visit a good psychiatrist second in case of anxiety and dissociation ((fainting)) psychotherapy helps a lot where in you will be taught to manage your anxiety through exercises and be master of your mind for which you can consult with me or any other psychologist. Do not worry suicide is not option, when medical attention is available to you. All the best. Seek treatment asap.

Sir, I am 21 years old but my lungs and heart pain many times a day. I smoke and I don't know how to quit it.
Everyone by now know about ill effects of smoke or pollution which is worse than cigarette smoke, we are exposed and we cannot escape the bad effects while living in Delhi. Why do you want to increase your risk to heart and lungs both ,as low oxygen levels in the air can trigger a heart attack. Give it up through your will power only.

If you had a heart attack and having recurrent chest pain, then get an angiography and angioplasty done. If already done, repeat a 2d echo. If there is anything you will need high dose aspirin three times daily for control of post mi syndrome. See your cardiologist soon.

My wife is 55 years old. her echo cardiogram report is normal. Her ecg report speaks of STT changes, for which the doctor here told me to get a street Test, modified done. The stress test has come positive - it speaks of "significant ST segment depression over and above basal changes in exercise and early recovery, reverting to basal at the end of recovery" and concludes saying "stress test positive for inducible ischaemia by ST criteria, this could represent a false positive in view of baseline abnormality. Suggested clinical correlation and further evaluation as clinically appropriate" my doctor says that she is otherwise asymptomatic, with normal bp, triglycerides, non diabetic, no chest pain, no breathlessness, no palpitation, and may be because of baseline issues. But he has suggested for a ct scan coronary angiogram. I would like to know whether is angio is necessary, as I would not otherwise have liked to expose her to 64 radiation hazards, if avoidable. Please advise. Please tell me the charges and the digital payment path.

Dear Angiogram may show blocks. But she has no complaints. Noting blocks at this age is seen in majority people and a aging change. Best would be stress thallium myocardial scan. This can show a sub millimeter stress ischemia and is totally non invasive safe procedure. If comes positive then Ayurvedic medicines can reverse it. If negative just enjoy

To soften rough hair, use fenugreek seeds. Powder the seeds and add water to make a thick paste. For visible results, apply regularly on the scalp for a month at least. You can also apply warm oil with lime and egg on the scalp. Wrap head in a warm towel. Leave until it cools and wash thoroughly. Repeat twice a week to soften hair.
