Hi I am suffering from Ulcerative Colitis and right now i am on a stage of severe ulcerative colitis which is also known as pan ulcerative colitis. I am on steroids. I am little bit tired with my daily food routine. I am confused what to eat and what not. My doctor is not responding well too. So i have a question about ,can i eat eggs, cheese, and paneer and tomatoes in daily routine? Please reply.

Diploma in Diabetology, CCT (Rheumatology & Internal Medicine), MD - Internal Medicine
General Physician, Noida
Ulcerative colitis does not have a single diet plan but you take less fiberous diet so your bathroom visits are reduced. You can take eggs cheese and paneer and other milk products if you are not having any milk protein allergy. You avoid fruits and vegetables as they have high fiber content but one or two tomatoes wont hurt you that much. Keep a diary and pen and track what you ate, what caused problem and avoid it as anything can cause flaring of disease depends on individual. Some items are common troublemakers for people with UC, including: alcohol caffeine carbonated drinks dairy products, if you?re lactose intolerant dried beans, peas, and legumes dried fruits foods that have sulfur or sulfate foods high in fiber meat nuts, crunchy nut butters popcorn products that have sorbitol (sugar-free gum and candies) raw fruits and vegetables refined sugar seeds spicy foods

Sir I am Suffering from ulcerative colitis since September 2015 and I recovered it in December 2015 but now problem started blood in stool, abdominal pain, emergency in toilet and weakness. Now my Dr. Told me to we have last option and I have take steroid now. So what can I do now.

Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, MS - General Surgery, MBBS, FICS
General Surgeon, Delhi
It you still pass blood with stool, that means your problem of ulcerative colitis has not subsided. It needs to tackled with medication that includes steroids also. So it is for the gastroenterologist to decide as to what should be the appropriate treatment for you. Moreover steroids is not the last option rather it is one of the options. I would say surgery is the last option. So don't worry follow your doctor and all the best. God bless.

Generally piles are not so serious and go away on their own after a few days. But they should not be ignored as they can lead to life-threatening conditions such as colorectal cancer. Piles can affect anyone at any age but they mostly affect elderly people, pregnant ladies, and those with spinal cord injuries. Symptoms include blood or mucus discharge after a bowel movement, pain during defecation, red and swollen anus and formation of a hard lump of coagulated blood called thrombosed external hemorrhoid. The good news is that piles at their initial stage can be cured at home. The piles home remedies given below are effective in the treatment of piles. Dried figs: wash 3 to 4 figs and soak them in a glass of water overnight. Eating this on an empty stomach early in the morning and then at night will definitely relieve the pain and swelling of inflamed hemorrhoids. And medicenes are abhayarista and chitrakadivati. Any querries inform me.
