Effective Tips To Reduce Obesity!

Effective Tips To Reduce Obesity!

Obesity is the condition wherein a person has an excessive body weight as a result of genetic or lifestyle related factors. This condition if not taken seriously can be life threatening as obese people are at risk of developing chronic conditions like diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, and may also lead to a heart attack. Hence it is crucial to undergo weight reduction.

Calculate the weight you need to lose
Before you begin to practice effective steps for losing weight consider the amount of weight you need to shed. You should first measure your current weight and then calculate your body mass index (BMI) to find the amount of deviation from the recommended range. Then consider the difference between your current and ideal weight as your target weight.

Tips For Losing Weight

1. Eat Right

  • Consult a nutritional expert- It all starts with the right diet. An Individual’s eating habits contribute significantly to his weight. If you are obese or overweight, then you should consult a health expert and have him prepare the appropriate diet based on your weight and body type.
  • Balanced diet- Make sure you have lean meats, fruits, and green leafy vegetables as part of your diet. Also, cut down on the amount of food you consume and your intake of sugar, salt, and fats gradually. Also, water is the best medicine since it flushes all the toxins out of your body. Make it a point to drink around 2 litres of water on a daily basis. It will help clean your system and also keep you feeling full and hydrated.
  • Regular meal time- Another effective tip is to eat regularly. If you skip meals, then your body starts storing excess fat to act as a reserve. If you eat regular meals in small portions, you not only slow down the fat storing process but also reduce the quantity of food you consume.
  • Healthy options- Moreover, switch immediately to the modern-day marvel that is green tea. This seems to be very effective as of late and is helping obese people greatly since it is rich in antioxidants. If you do not prefer green tea, then aloe vera juice is an even better alternative.

2. Exercise
An obese person needs to exercise regularly. If you find it difficult to do exercise, take baby steps. Start with easy sitting and lying exercises. Go out into the open such as a garden and perform these exercises early in the morning for just 10 minutes. As you build your stamina, increase the intensity gradually.

3. Manage stress
Shed some of that stress in your life as stress and weight are directly correlated. Lose out on stress, and you will also lose those extra pounds.

4. Don’t neglect sleep
Six to eight hours of sleep is essential for a healthy being. Insufficient sleep results in increased levels of cortisol. Cortisol is associated with weight gain.Hence, it becomes crucial to rest enough.

Make sure you seek advice from your doctor and implement the necessary lifestyle changes to accomplish weight reduction effectively.

Hi, I want to loose my weight. please suggest me diet plan and running excise for that.
Hii. To loose weight only exercises will not do the work. U need to have proper balanced diet as well. Most of us think that it's OK to eat more food since we are working out. But thats not the thing. Start having 6 small meals rather than 3 large meals. Share your daily routine in detail. Remember weight loss is not a matter of one or two days. It is a prolonged process. You need to b patient and follow a healthy lifestyle. It's always better to consult privately by sharing your routine in detail and with all the medical conditions if any. Avoid sugar and fatty foods. Rest you don't need to skip anything if following a proper balanced diet. Include fibers in the diet and do cardio exercises such as walking, running, jumping, skipping, aerobics, dancing, etc.

Combined action of exercise and diet will give you the proper fat burning. Do the cardio with tummy exercises like crunches, Twist crunches, Reverse crumbs, Lunge twist, The stomach vacuum, Rolling prank exercise, bending side to side etc. Beginning start with 20 min exercise and day by day increase the intensity and reach maximum one hour. With the exercise for a time period if there avoid the intake of alcohol, soft drinks, deep fried items, pastries and sweets. Avoid heavy meals, divide main heavy 3 meals and take 6 small meals with 2.5 to 3 hours gap. Include all different colored vegetables and fruits, don't stick with a particular type of food. Include good source of proteins (egg, chicken, skimmed milk, fish, all pulses, legumes and beans.) in a healthy preparation. Calculate oil consumption of your house as 1/2 liter per person per month. Ganglion cysts are the most commonmass or lump in the hand. They are not cancerous and, in most cases, are harmless. They occur in various locations, but most frequently develop on the back of the wrist. These fluid-filled cysts can quickly appear, disappear, and change size. The cause is unknown, but it is thought that small tears in the tendon membrane or joint capsule allow the contents to squeeze out. In many cases, ganglion cysts go away by themselves without the need for medical treatment. Treatment options include surgery or draining the cyst with a needle.

Skin Tightening Treatment: What You Need To Know?

DNB (Plastic Surgery), MCh, MBBS
Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon, Surat
Skin Tightening Treatment: What You Need To Know?

Laser skin tightening is a procedure that uses laser to enhance the appearance of the skin and treat minor facial flaws. This procedure is performed with the help of two types of lasers: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative laser is used to remove thin layers of skin, while a non-ablative laser is the one which causes growth of collagen and tightens the skin underneath.

Non-ablative laser is less invasive and requires less time to recover, although it's less effective than laser resurfacing, which is done with an ablative laser.

A laser tightening skin procedure can decrease fines lines on the face, making you look younger and giving a smooth appearance to your skin. It can also be used to treat uneven skin tone and improve your complexion, besides helping the treatment of sunburns and scars to a certain extent.

This procedure is usually used to treat:

  1. Wrinkles
  2. Liver or age spots
  3. Skin damage caused by sun rays
  4. Scars caused due to accidents, chicken pox or severe acne
  5. Irregular or uneven skin tone or texture

Before performing the procedure a doctor is likely to check your:

  1. Medical history - Doctors cross check your current and previous medical history, including medications and medical conditions.
  2. Physical examination - A skin test is very common prior to performing such a surgery.

After the procedure is carried out, you may encounter initial minor problems like acne, itching, swelling or redness.

You may be advised to take medications and avoid direct exposure to sunlight. During the procedure, a highly intense beam of light is directed on the skin. This laser beam destroys the upper layer of skin and also heats the underlying layers of epithelial cells. Resultantly, it causes the collagen fibers to shrink, thereby tightening your skin and giving you a younger appearance. Post the procedure, ice packs can be used to cool down the skin.

Migraine - Why Early Diagnosis Is Important?

Migraine - Why Early Diagnosis Is Important?

Headaches and migraines can vary drastically depending on their duration, specific symptoms and the person they are affecting. The more you know about your specific type of headache or migraine, the better prepared you will be to treat them—and possibly even prevent them. The two types of migraine are-

  1. Migraine without aura: The majority of migraine sufferers have Migraine without Aura.
  2. Migraine with aura: Migraine with Aura refers to a range of neurological disturbances that occur before the headache begins, usually lasting about 20-60 minutes.

Symptoms of migraine vary and also depend on the type of migraine. A migraine has four stages: prodrome, aura, headache and postdrome. But it is not necessary that all the migraine sufferers experience all the four stages.

Prodrome: The signs of this begin to appear a day or two days before the headache starts. The signs include depression, constipation, food cravings, irritability, uncontrollable yawning, neck stiffness and hyperactivity.
Migraine Aura: Auras are a range of symptoms of the central nervous system. These might occur much before or during the migraine, but most people get a migraine without an aura. Auras usually begin gradually and increase in intensity. They last for an hour or even longer and are

  • Visual: Seeing bright spots, various shapes, experiencing vision loss, and flashes of light
  • Sensory: Present in the form of touch sensations like feeling of pins and needles in the arms and legs
  • Motor: Usually related with the movement problems like the limb weakness
  • Verbal: It is related with the speech problems

Headache: In case of a migraine attack one might experience:

  • Pain on both sides or one side of the head
  • Pain is throbbing in nature
  • Vomiting and nausea
  • Sensitivity to smells, sound and light
  • Vision is blurred
  • Fainting and lightheadedness

Postdrome: This is the final phase of the migraine. During this phase one might feel fatigued, though some people feel euphoric.

Red flags that the patient may be having underlying serious disorder not migraine

  1. Onset of headaches >50 years
  2. Thunderclap headache - subarachnoid haemorrhage
  3. Neurological symptoms or signs
  4. Meningism
  5. Immunosuppression or malignancy
  6. Red eye and haloes around lights - acute angle closure glaucoma
  7. Worsening symptoms
  8. Symptoms of temporal arteritis

These patients require CT scan / MRI or CSF examination. Most Migraine patients do not need these tests.

Diagnosis of Migraine: Usually migraines go undiagnosed and thus are untreated. In case you experience the symptoms regularly then talk to the doctor, who evaluates the symptoms and can start a treatment. You can also be referred to a neurologist who is trained to treat the migraines and other conditions. During the appointment the neurologist usually asks about the family history of headaches and migraines along with your symptoms and medical history.

The doctor might advise for some tests like:

  1. Blood Tests: These reveal problems with the blood vessel like an infection in the spinal cord and brain.
  2. CT scan: Used to diagnose the infections, tumors, brain damage, and bleeding that cause the migraines.
  3. MRI: This helps to diagnose the tumors bleeding infections, neurological conditions, and strokes.
  4. Lumbar Puncture: For analyzing infections and neurological damages. In lumbar puncture a thin needle is inserted between the two vertebrae to remove a sample of the cerebrospinal fluid for analysis.

Treatments

Migraine treatments can help stop symptoms and prevent future attacks.

Many medications have been designed to treat migraines. Some drugs often used to treat other conditions also may help relieve or prevent migraines. Medications used to combat migraines fall into two broad categories:

  • Pain-relieving medications. Also known as acute or abortive treatment, these types of drugs are taken during migraine attacks and are designed to stop symptoms.
  • Preventive medications. These types of drugs are taken regularly, often on a daily basis, to reduce the severity or frequency of migraines.

Your treatment strategy depends on the frequency and severity of your headaches, the degree of disability your headaches cause, and your other medical conditions.

Some medications aren't recommended if you're pregnant or breast-feeding. Some medications aren't given to children. Your doctor can help find the right medication for you.

Hi I am suffering form severe head ache (migraine) for 1 month how to get rid of this please suggest me what kind of medication should I need to take.

PGDHM, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Jamnagar
Hello lybrate-user, Suppressing migraine pain with NSAIDS and analgesics gives short-term relief and the pain can rebound. Dependence on medicines decreases the body’s natural pain relief mechanism and long-term dependence can damage kidneys, liver or other vital organs. As per ayurved, The cardinal symptom of Vata is pain and when it lodges in the nervous system of the brain it causes migraine. External stimulus such as excessive noise, light, stress and tension all contribute to increasing migraine pains. Weak digestion is also a contributing factor which increases ama in the body and prevents proper circulation of blood in the body and brain. Diet & Lifestyle:- *Avoid hot, spicy foods, fermented foods, white sugar, white flour products, and sour or citrus fruits, because they aggravate the Pitta in your body. *Drink more water and eat more fiber, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. *Avoid excessive sugar or salt, refined foods, animal products (meats and dairy), caffeine, tea, and alcohol, as these items will further lead to aggravation of Pitta. *Avoid direct exposure to the sun, as migraine headaches are predominantly a Pitta disorder and can be triggered by the hot sun. For further details and permanent relief can online consult.

Hi there. Your TSH, FT3, FT4 all are within normal limits. No need of any concern. You are not suffering from thyroid illness. Your thyroid is still normal after 9-10 years. Your RA quantitative is raised, while your anti-CCP is within normal limits. Uric acid is normal and ESR is either normal or borderline depending upon which type it is. Again, no need of any concern. As far as treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis is concerned, you may or may not require treatment depending upon your symptoms. As a rule, we treat patients, not reports. So, if you have symptoms or signs of R.A. You might need treatment. Otherwise, not. I have special interest in Rheumatoid illnesses and have acquired good experience in treatment of these conditions. Feel free to consult in case you require further help. All the best .and have a great day.

Hi, Include whole grain cereals, legumes and pulses, vegetables, fruits, Whole milk and other dairy products, lean meat, fish, egg, whole milk. Avoid refined flour, red meat, oily and fat foods, junk food, sugary foods, alcohol, butter, ghee. Stay hydrated all the time. You have to do exercise/ workout in order to get rid of extra calories if any. For your post workout meal include oats with milk, paneer, skin out chicken (stewed preferably), fish (salmon, mackerel, tuna), egg white, sprouts, quinoa as they all are rich in protein. Consider taking olive oil, almonds, dry dates, green tea as they help you relieve your stress and build up strength and immunity. You can go with any one of the above according to your wish list. Its better a take a pre-workout snack which consists of carbohydrate, it can be a fruit, a breakfast cereal in a limited quantity, milkshake without excess sugar. It is not necessary that you have to stick to the same regime, you can change it accordingly but you have to see that the options are healthy and mind your portions to avoid fat deposition in your body.

Your Daily Calorie needs are 1800 calories. To reduce 2 kgs per month you need to take 1300 calories per day. Unless you do this your weight will not reduce. You can use 'Myfitnesspal' app to monitor your calories. Plateau is just a myth. It just means you are eating 1800 calories per day therefore your weight is not going down. Also you need to add daily 45 mins intensive exercise if possible. Monitor your calories daily. Every thing you eat must be accounted for. Give all high cal stuff like biscuits, namkeen, colas, sweets etc. If no progress consult a dietitian.
