Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. It would have been better if you had given actual fasting, PP glucose values and HbA1c%, instead of saying "diabetes is in control" Because I am not aware what according to you is good control. Ideally fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, PP should be 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8. In many persons Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is a condition observed alog with diabetes and being overweight. You are close to being in grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 29 kgs/M2 (normal < 23 kgs/M2). In such a situation it is necessary to give a closer look at your lipid profile, liver function tests and dietary intake. Items like egg yolk, red meat, chicken need to be reduced. Plus one has to look at total dietary intake and extent of exercise. Also let me know if you indulge in alcohol intake and smoking. Plus let me know what are the drugs being used for diabetes with dosage. As regards prostate enlargement you will have to go by the surgeons opinion and treatment advised. Thanks.

I am a male 61 years of age. I am suffering from UC for the last 18 years. Most of the time it has been under control even without medicine. But mild flare up occurs once or twice in a year. The medicine prescribed are Mescol 800 mg TDS. I also take Ayurvedic Medicine. With combination of Allopathic & Ayurvedic drugs the problem remained controlled. For the last one month the flare up has started and not getting settled. Doctor has given me Antibiotic Course for 5 days. But this time problem is still persisting a mild one. What is the advice - Medicine & Food. I am not allergic to any food and maintain a good health with a regular exercise. Whether any Permanent cure could be found for this condition. Pl advice next course of action.

Hi, sir stool culture test me IBS Ka pata chal jata hai kya please reply in Hindi.
Nahi ibs ki problem ka stool cultutre se koi lena dena nahi hai, irritable bowel syndrome me bar bar motion intestinal mucosal irritation ki vajah se hota hai. Bel ka bina chini ka sharbat din me do bar le, kafi fayada hoga, chanch & dahi ka upyog bhi faydemand hoga. Adhik jankari aur check up ke liye Lybrate ke madhyam se contact kare.

Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned please follow lifestyle modifications like this - 1) Your diets need to be rich in complex carbohydrates. It also needs to have sufficient amount of proteins as per your age. Fat intake should be only moderate. Sodium intake should be minimal. The diet should be rich in Vitamins especially Vitamin B. For instance, breakfast may consist of milk, cereals, whole wheat toasts and one orange. At lunchtime, you may have lean meat, cooked vegetables, brown rice and a salad. Dinner can consist of a salad, a couple of whole grain bread toasts and cooked fish. Fruits may be had as mid-meal snacks. You can take smaller meals than having three large meals and small meals can be easily digested. Oily and spicy foods must be off the diet. More so, alcohol and tobacco are a strict no-no. Coffee, tea and carbonated drinks may be had only minimally. Processed foods must also be avoided. Vegetables such as sprouts, cabbage, tomatoes, beans, and beetroot should be taken in large quantities. Bitter gourd and drumstick are also known to be very beneficial. Buttermilk must replace curd. Carrot juice, spinach juice, and cucumber juice may also be had regularly. 2) Try to maintain a healthy weight. If you are overweight or obese, reduce the number of calories you eat each day and get more exercise. If you have a healthy weight, work to maintain it by choosing a healthy diet and exercising.Check your BMI. 3) Do exercise most days of the week. Discuss with your Doctor about it if you are clinically fit. Regarding prostate please send all your reports Hope that helps.

Hi, Why don't you go for homoeopathic treatment? Homoeopathy is very effective in gastric disorders and indigestion, hyperacidity. It has no side effects. Do you have a sedentary lifestyle (sitting job/ computer job)? If yes, this might be one of the important causes behind these symptoms and neck stiffness and back ache too. Kindly follow a regular balanced diet, take mini meals and never over eat. Also, never skip your meals. Exercise is a very important aspect of living a healthy routine. You must exercise regularly be it yoga, daily walks or stretching. Stress and anxiety also plays a role in developing hyperacidity. Ajwain water, cold buttermilk, coconut water or cold milk, mint and tulsi leaves are quite beneficial in reducing acidity. Kindly consult a good homoeopathic doctor near you if this is a recurring condition. Tc.

Complications Arising Out of Crohn's Disease in Child

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Diploma In Child Health (DCH)

Complications Arising Out of Crohn's Disease in Child

If you are finding certain symptoms like stomach paincramping, frequent diarrhoeaweight loss of your child or fever, then there are chances that he is suffering from Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is a bowel disease that causes swelling and inflammation along the digestive tract of your child. Mostly, it affects the end of the small intestine, but it can occur anywhere from the mouth to the anus.

Causes behind the disease: It is not common in children, but if your child is showing symptoms, then one of the following may be the reason:

  1. Immunity system of the child,
  2. Genetics, and
  3. Environment.

The main cause behind such a disease can be any of the above. However, it has been found that if you have someone suffering from this disease in the family, then your child has more chances of getting affected by it.

Diagnosing Crohn's disease: If you find the above-mentioned symptoms in your child, then it is better to take him or her to a doctor. Mostly, this disease is chronic in nature, meaning that it will continue even if it is treated. However, with proper treatment the symptoms can be reduced.
For diagnosing this disease the following tests may be done

  1. Different lab tests that include a blood test for blood count and white blood cell count, and stool test to look for the bacteria that cause the inflammation and urine.
  2. X-Ray for detecting whether your child is suffering from Crohn's disease and what is the exact position of it in the digestive tract.
  3. If further required, they may do an endoscopy to find out the exact location and get more details.

Complications arising out of Crohn's disease: If your child is suffering from this disease and is left without treatment for long, he or she may suffer from the following complications.

  1. When the disease thickens, it may obstruct the intestinal walls by swelling of the intestine. Thus, the space from where the digestive matter passes becomes less and may lead to bowel obstruction.
  2. Fissures may develop at the mucus membrane of the anus.
  3. Fistulas or ulcers can occur as they tunnel through the affeced area to the nearby tissues. All these are painful for your child to bear.
  4. Your child cannot absorb the nutrients of the food like any other child and hence there are chances that they suffer from nutritional deficiencies.

With such problems that may not seem very huge in the beginning, your child may lose his appetite and forget about normal living.
