Dear Doctor, I was diagnosed with the fatty liver grade II in April, 2018 with high lipid profile however no scarring of liver. I was on evion lc and atorvastatin 10. Though I was not a heavy drinker however completely quit drinking with healthy diet and lots of physical exercise. My LFT and lipid profile came normal in June and August 2018. The treating doctor stopped evion lc and reduced atorvastatin to 5 mg after the physical exam and told that it seems liver has recovered. I've been taking alcohol since last 3 months (3-4 days in a week with 3 drinks on each occasion) however still walking 5 kms everyday. Since last 5 days I am having a lot of light headedness. I am scared now. My question is that can a grade II fatty liver be transformed into cirrhosis in 3 to 4 months of aforesaid alcohol consumption.
hello lybrate user, fatty liver generally occurs when there is accumulation of fats in liver [ more then 10% of liver weight] which may cause inflammation and prevents the liver from functioning properly. excessive alcohol consumption is main cause of fatty liver, other causes includes obesity, high blood cholesterol, medicinal side effects, familial predisposition, debates etc. fatty liver can be reversible by adapting healthy lifestyle. hence, strictly avoid alcohol. avoid junk food like noodles, fried food etc. drink plenty of water,8-9 glass per day. drink sugar free juices, it is beneficial for healthy liver function. have healthy diet. add more fiber rich food in diet like spinach, beans, carrots, oats, cereals etc..; add more fruits in meal, do regular exercise, get more active, like taking the stairs instead of elevator etc; take homeopathy treatment for fatty liver, it is safe, natural and holistic way of treatment. natural homeopathic medicine like chelidonium, lyco etc are highly effective in liver disorders like fatty liver. in chronic cases, medicine is selected on the basis of thorough details of patients like medical history, causes, routine, temperament etc..; such well selected remedy gives complete relief and cure without side-effects. Message back for proper consultation.

Hi, I am 33 years old, housewife. I have been suffering from mucus in stool for last near about 15 years along with gas & bloating, abdominal cramp, indigestion. I am underweight also. The mucus is heavy thick yellowish jelly type and whenever I sit for stool first it comes out in good amount every time. Sometime during the time of urination it comes out. I will go to consult homeopathic doctor. But can you please help me with some answers? What food should I avoid? What type of lifestyle I lead and what exercise I do, when. If morning it is not possible can I do yoga and pranayam in the evening.
No one wants to have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but if you take some preventive measures, you may be able to avoid it. Stress, anxiety, or eating and drinking the wrong things can cause digestive problems. You can find long-term solutions by making some simple changes in how you respond to stress and paying attention to your diet, nutrition, and lifestyle. Take a look at these seven tips to keep your flare-ups at bay. Tip 1: Manage Your Stress Stress-related symptoms—like abdominal pain and bloating—occur more often and more intensely in people with IBS. Managing the stress in your life is important in avoiding flare-ups. There are several effective methods for stress management that can improve IBS symptoms, including deep breathing and yoga. The secret is to breathe from your diaphragm, not your chest, to relax your abdominal muscles. Doing so can lead to more regular bowel activity. Tip 2: Relax Progressively Relaxing the muscles in your body can help alleviate an upset stomach. To use this form of relaxation, start by tensing and then relaxing the muscles in your feet. Then move your way up through your calves, thighs, abdomen, arms, and each main muscle group in your body, ending with your face and scalp. Concentrate on releasing all of the tension in each body part as you go. Tip 3: Talk to a friend/counsellor Beat stress by examining how you respond to life events, and guiding you toward more effective responses. Tip 4: Find More Fiber In addition to stress management techniques, tweaking your diet can also help prevent IBS. One of the most common ways is to incorporate more fiber into your meals. However, while dietary fiber can ease some gastrointestinal symptoms (like constipation), it can make other symptoms worse (like gas and cramping). To minimize potential problems, try a gradual increase of fiber over the course of a few weeks. Tip 5: Steer Clear of These Foods Certain foods are known to make IBS symptoms worse. Watch what makes your own symptoms worse, and avoid those products. Some common culprits include: chocolate sugar-free sweeteners (such as sorbitol or mannitol) cauliflower broccoli cabbage beans Some people also have trouble with dairy. You can try substituting yogurt for milk, or decreasing the quantity of dairy products you consume. Other things that might work are breaking down lactose with an enzyme product, or combining dairy with other foods. Tip 6: Drink Right While drinking enough fluids each day helps IBS symptoms, not all fluids have the same effect on your stomach. Water soothes stomach distress, but several other beverages can cause problems, including: alcoholic drinks coffee, tea, and other caffeinated drinks carbonated drinks like soda Alcohol and drinks with caffeine may make diarrhea worse. Soda and other drinks with carbonation can cause gas.

it is important that you follow the following advice: Firstly, don’t miss breakfast, lunch or dinner. ... Secondly, avoid aerated drinks, tea, and coffee. ... Also, include milk and diary products in your diet. ... Don’t remain hungry for long periods of time. ... Raise the head of your bed if symptoms interfere with sleep. If your bed allows for it, raise the head of it by 6 to 8 inches. Gravity will keep the acid in your stomach. Don't just pile up pillows, though. These tend to bend your neck and body in such a way that increases the pressure. It will make the hyperacidity worse Consider losing weight. Losing weight may reduce some of the pressure on your lower esophageal sphincter, keeping stomach acid from leaking through Eat smaller meals. Decrease the amount of food you eat at any one time. This may reduce the amount of stress and pressure on your stomach For medication consult online in private.

Advise her to reduce weight by reducing diet. Daily walk. She can take laxative for few days to clear her motion
Dear lybrateuser, -The pain could be due to constipation & improper evacuation of bowel - have plenty of oral fluids including 2-3 litres of water per day for proper hydration and digestion - have more of fibre rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, wholegrains instead of refined ones, beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, peas, nuts - mix a tablespoon of isabgol powder in a glass of warm water and have it one hour before bedtime at night for proper motion - take a pain relief tablet if pain is more - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, yoga for proper digestion - avoid fried, spicy & junk foods.
