Usually pomegranate juice lowers the blood pressure. It was observed in a survey that many people, those who took pomegranate juice were found with low BP. So if you are suffering with low BP, then its better to avoid this juice. For more queries, contact us.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given. Your weight and height are fairly in proportion, with a BMI of 24 kgs/M2 (ideal >23 kgs). BP is high, particularly considering your age. Hence you will have to continue taking antihypertensive medication and bring it down to 120 - 130 / 70 to 80 mm Hg. This treatment has to continue for lifetime. You may keep checking the BP regularly (once a fortnight or a mont). Reduce salt intake. As regards your TSH value (5.96 mU/L,) at this level NO TREATMENT is advised. This is considered as subclinical hypothyroidism. Treatment is usually given only when TSH goes beyond 10 mU/L. Occasionally in some patients even with below 10 mU/L if there are any troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism present, then only treatment may be given. Thanks.

There is reason beyond tachycardia. Faster heart beat means you are in stress. Don't terrified go for bp cheak. If you are bp & pulse are normal than no need to worry. Sometimes lack of sleep & stress are reason beyond that.

5 Things You Must Know When Living With A Heart Patient!

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Cardiology
Cardiologist, Jaipur
5 Things You Must Know When Living With A Heart Patient!

When there is a person with the chronic condition, it is not just that person who is affected, but the near and dear ones as well. When heading out for a dinner or when planning a gathering, there would be certain things that need to be accounted for and considered to accommodate the needs of the affected person. These very soon become a way of life and can be done effortlessly.

The following are some things to bear in mind when living with a heart patient.

  1. Diet: Heart patients would have some dietary preferences based on the heart condition per se. This may include a need for more whole grains and vegetables, need for specific types of oils, specific cooking methods, etc. At home, it is essential to ensure these things are always stocked up. When heading out, whether it is to visit someone or out for a meal, take into account whether these would be available. The next best option should be kept in mind so that dietary intake is not affected. Gradually, with time, substitutes can be identified with which they could manage in most places.
  2. Medications: Make sure the medication kit is always readily available. Make sure the person does not miss any medications, whether at home or outside. Ensure the regular medicines are in stock and some common emergency ones are also readily available.
  3. Routine: Whether it is their morning walk or yoga or meditation, it is better to stick to the routine as much as possible. The person also should learn to adapt based on circumstances; however, to the maximum extent possible, these should be continued without major interruption.
  4. Monitoring: Be it blood pressure, sugar levels or weight, these need to be monitored regularly and any deviations should be brought to the notice of the doctor immediately.
  5. Other equipment: Whether it is a walker, inhaler, or a wheelchair, these should be functional and available. The home or the living place should not be cluttered to allow for the easy use of this equipment.

While these may initially require some effort, with time, it would just happen naturally.

Hello I am 25 years old man and today I have tested blood pressure Result is 150/80 mm/hg Is it normal?

MD Hom., Certificate in Food and Nutrition, BHMS, Diploma In Yoga, PGDM
Homeopath, Indore
Hello
I am 25 years old man and today I have tested blood pressure Result is 150/80 mm/hg Is it normal?
At the age of 25 years, your BP must be 120/80. Since diastolic (lower) pressure is normal according to your age which is 80, but systolic pressure is high being 150. Systolic BP (upper) usually gets increased with exertion, or running, walking and other physical activity. So you need to keep an eye on your BP. Go for BP checkup alternate day for a week, and if it remains high along with other BP symptoms, then we will start the treatment for it. For more queries, contact us.

You need to understand about high blood pressure.  Normal range of blood pressure is between 90/60 to 140/90, anything above or below is is abnormal. Many factors can affect blood pressure, including: 1) The amount of water and salt you have in your body 2) The condition of your kidneys, nervous system, or blood vessels 3) Your hormone levels 4) your lifestyle - smoking, drinking, exercise  You are more likely to be told your blood pressure is too high as you get older. This is because your blood vessels become stiffer as you age. When that happens, your blood pressure goes up. High blood pressure increases your chance of having a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, or early death. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. DASH lowers high blood pressure and improves levels of cholesterol. This reduces your risk of getting heart disease. The DASH Diet Emphasizes vegetables, fruits, and fat-free or low-fat dairy products. Includes whole grains, fish, poultry, beans, seeds, nuts, and vegetable oils. Limits sodium, sweets, sugary beverages, and red meats. Along with DASH, other lifestyle changes can help lower your blood pressure. They include staying at a healthy weight, exercising, and not smoking. My advice to you would be 1) Keep a BP daily record for at least one week 2) Basic tests should be one to rule out cardiac / kidney issues 3) unless any recent evaluation has been done I would advice these test ECG ECHO Lipid Profile TSH KFT  Renal doppler  Get back to me with a detailed history and  old / new records for a better individualized advice.

Hi, Can diabetic person consumes fig [anjeer] to control high BP and blood glucose, due to its high potassium contents? If yes, what is the quantity & before meals or after?

Hi,
Can diabetic person consumes fig [anjeer] to control high BP and blood glucose, due to its high potassium content...
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Figs contain fiber and some vitamins as well as a few mineral like in most fruits. Plus a 100 g of figs also give 16 g of sugar. Whether figs will help in controlling BP effectively is not clear. Since most fruits have vitamins, minerals, fibers and antioxidants, they are good. Even in a diabetic person also fruits are good, may not increase blood glucose much. But whether they control BP or reduce blood glucose is difficult to answer. Best is to use specific drugs, diet control and exercise. Plus take fruits. Thanks.

Sir I am suffering from high blood pressure 135/90 always please tell me sir about suitable diet.
DASH diet is recommended for BP control, you can take a detailed diet consult with a dietitan for a diet chart based on DASH diet, but fundamentally what needs to be done is eating a diet more in fruits, vegetables, sprouts and proteins. Drink lots of water and liquids like fresh juices, vegetable juices etc. You should reduce food containing excessive salts like sauces, namkeens, papads, pickles etc from diet also avoid fried food, ready to eat food. Exercise daily for 40 mins and quit smoking and drinking. A good 7-8 hrs sleep should also be focused on.

Hello doctor I have high triglyceride problem my triglyceride is 550 so what I do please help me.
You have not mentioned if it is just your triglyceride that is deranged or the entire cholesterol profile. For isolated Triglyceride rise, the first line of management is diet change, introduction of daily exercise in your routine and quiting alcohol. For diet please take a detailed diet consult with a dietitan for low fat diet, eat fruits and vegetables and avoid fried, junk food or high sugary food like sweets and desserts. Exercise daily for 40 mins like brisk walking, yoga or jogging etc. After 6 weeks of the precautions please repeat your tests, if still high, consult a doctor for starting cholesterol lowering medicines.

Still you should practice a healthy life style like regular walking of 30 to 45 minutes, avoid all sort of fried and rich foods, take less carb foods. Minimum sleep should be if 8 hours at night. Regarding pulse it is also normal. Nothing to be worry. Stay healthy. Thank you.

You need to focus on your overall health and change your lifestyle. Not only taking the prescribed medicines on time but also spending some time to exercise every day. You can also learn Yoga which can help you balance the mind and body, thereby help reduce the need for increasing dosage of medicines over time. Adapt a healthy lifestyle and try to implement the good habits in your daily routine. You can also add Homeopathy which helps the body to recover naturally. You contact me for further details.

Hi, RBC in lumbar puncture mostly indicate traumatic CSF means blood from layers of skin mixes with csf. For Subarachnoid haemorrhage xanthochromia is diagnostic. Its very difficult you to understand. I just want to tell you that get a non contrast CT brain, it will exclude cerebral haemorrhage. In a hypertensive patient with vomiting & headache one must exclude cerebral haemorrhage.

1) A BP of 140/110 is very high so you need to change medication, it will be better to consult a cardiologist for detailed evaluation which should include, ecg, echo, lipid profile, renal function test and TMT and change of your treatment. 2) Sir you need to quit drinking or at least reduce it to the recommended safe levels because drinking leads to increase in cholesterol which leads to hardening of blood arteries due to cholesterol deposition and hence rise in BP. 3) Also daily exercise of 40 mins is essential for good BP control. 4) Diet change to a DASH diet which is essentially increase of fruits, vegetables, sprouts and curd in diet and reduction of salt and high sugar food. Kindly consult a dietitian for detailed diet consult.
