Unlike other teeth which erupt at specific period of time, the wisdom teeth, in normal adults, erupt anytime from late teenage years to adulthood.  The refined food habits in the recent times have reduced the need for a third molar. Also, our jaw sizes have reduced with evolution, and oftentimes, there is less space for these to erupt completely, causing their impaction. The chances of infection developing within the tooth and in the surrounding tissues is very high, requiring removal. Before you go ahead with removal, know the following four things.

  1. Get a buddy: In addition to the effects of anesthesia, there also would be moderate pain and discomfort, depending on how traumatic the extraction was. It is always best to have someone accompany you for the visit. This also helps you reach home safely without having to drive.
  2. Numb tongue and lips: The wisdom tooth removal is done under a local anesthesia where the entire quadrant is numbed before the procedure. Therefore, the chances of chewing on the tongue and the lip are quite high. Be careful to consciously avoid this as there are a lot of people who do not feel pain, but continue to chew on the tongue or lip and end up with injuries.
  3. Pain Management: Once the effect of anesthesia wears off, the pain will slowly set in, and will depend on how traumatic the extraction was. It is always advisable to take a pain killer before the anesthetic effect wears off, usually 30 to 40 minutes after the extraction process is over.
  4. Diet: For the first couple of days, stay on a completely soft diet with nothing spicy, hard, or hot to eat. One of the best things to have after an extraction is an ice cream, which can be continued for a couple of days after the extraction. Yogurt, smoothies, milkshakes, mashed vegetables and well-cooked rice are all good food choices.
  5. Smoking: If you have had an extraction, avoid smoking for at least a week. The negative pressure created during smoking can dislodge the clot that is formed in the tooth socket. This can lead to a complication called dry socket, which can be very painful. Avoid smoking at all costs, especially with wisdom tooth extractions.
  6. Postoperative follow-up: Based on the complexity of the extraction, a postoperative follow-up would be required. Be prompt in following up with your dentist for suture removal, check on socket healing and postoperative irrigation of the surgical site. Resume routine oral hygiene practices as recommended by the doctor.

Wisdom tooth removal requires a little extra caution as compared to a normal extraction, the ideal thing to do is to follow your dentist’s advice.

Paan which is prepared using tender green betel leaf and areca nut is very popular and widely consumed in many countries of South and South East Asia such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. There are many variations to the preparation, some might contain tobacco, slaked lime paste also known as choona and a paste that is known as kattha which is a breath freshener.

The betel leaves used to make paan have a range of healing and curative benefits. The leaves contain vitamins such as niacin, riboflavin, vitamin C and many more. Chewing paan can, therefore, have a good impact on your health.

  1. Digestive Health: The chewing action when consuming paan helps to stimulate the salivary glands. This causes the secretion of saliva which contains the enzymes necessary to ensure that the food is properly broken down. This aids in a good digestion. The drawback of surgical approaches (such as vasectomy), especially patient compliance and the low success rates with condoms has spurred research on hormonal contraceptive dosage forms. There is a dearth of investigations in the development of pharmaceutical preparations. Evolving technology in the 21st century as well as improvement in living standards further underline the need for new male contraception approaches, especially those that entail new drug delivery methods.

Non-hormonal techniques are also being developed, particularly a vaccine that immunizes men with antibodies to halt sperm production. This so-called male birth-control shot is encouraging, because it targets sperm directly (rather than targeting other hormones in the body) and doesn’t have the testosterone-lowering side effects of a hormonal pill. Each injection would last for long intervals (experts aren’t yet sure how long), but the pregnancy-preventing effects would be reversible, if and when a guy decides he’s ready to be a dad.

So when can you expect to see men rushing out to the pharmacy counter to pick up their new birth control Rx? “I think we may see a novel male contraceptive within 10-12 years, That may seem far off, but hey at least it’s finally within sight.

1. दूध

3. स्ट्रॉबेरी
स्ट्रॉबेरी में मैलिक एसिड मौजूद होता है, जो एक नैचुरल व्हाइटनिंग एजेंट है जो स्लाइवा के प्रॉडक्शन को बढ़ाकर दांतों को सफेद बनाता है। एक स्ट्रॉबेरी को मैश कर लें और टूथब्रश की मदद से दांतों पर हल्के से रगड़े और 5 मिनट बाद अच्छी तरह धो लें। ऐसा हफ्ते में एक बार जरूर करें। स्ट्रॉबेरी में अच्छी मात्र में एंटीऑक्सीडेंट और विटामिन सी होता है जो दांत सफ़ेद करने के मदद करता है।

4. तुलसी
ये तो हम सब जानते हैं कि तुलसी का प्रयोग घर में पूजा के लिए किया जाता है, पर इसके कई औषधीय गुण भी होते हैं। तुलसी में दांतों को चमकाने एवं दांतों एवं मुंह की समस्याओं को दूर करने के गुण होते हैं। दांतों को पीलेपन से बचाने के लिए तुलसी के पत्ते तोड़ें और इन्हें धूप में कुछ घंटों के लिए रखें। एक बार इनके सूख जाने पर इन्हें पीस लें। आप तुलसी की सूखी पत्तियों के साथ सरसों के तेल का मिश्रण करके दांतों की मालिश भी मसाज करें।

5. नमक

नमक में सोडियम और क्लोराइड दोनों शामिल होता है, जो दांतों का पीलापन कम करने के लिए कारगर है। हफ्ते में दो तीन बार नमक में सरसो का तेल मिलाकर दांतो का मसाज करें।
6. नीम
नीम में दांत सफेद बनाने और बैक्टीरिया खत्म करने के लाजवाब गुण पाए जाते हैं। रोजाना नीम की दातून से दांत साफ करें।

7. नींबू
एक नींबू का रस निकालकर उसमें सामान मात्रा में ही पानी मिला लें। खाने के बाद इस पानी का कुल्ला करें। रोजाना ऐसा करने से दांतों का पीलापन और सांसों की दुर्गंध दूर हो जाती है।

8. बेकिंग सोडा
बेकिंग सोडा पीले दांतों को सफेद बनाने का सबसे बेस्ट घरेलू तरीका है। ब्रश करने के बाद थोड़ा सा बेकिंग सोडा से दांतों की मसाज करें और  मुंह धो लें इससे दांतों पर जमी पीली पर्त साफ हो जाएगी।

9. दातून
एक गलास पानी में आधा नींबू निचोड़ें और इसमें रातभर दातुन रख दें। सुबह इसी दातुन का इस्तेमाल करें। इससे दांतों का पीलापन खत्म हो जाएगा। यदि आप प्रतिदिन दातुन नहीं कर सकते तो सप्ताह में एक दिन जरूर दातुन अवश्य करें। इससे दांत और मसूड़े स्वस्थ व मजबूत भी होते हैं ।

10. सेब 
सेब की अम्लता दाँतों को सफ़ेद करने में मदद करती है। सेब अच्छी तरह से चबाकर खाएं। इसमें तंतु की अच्छी मात्र होती है जो दांतों को सफ़ेद करने में मदद करती है।
11. लकड़ी का कोयला
रोज के टूथपेस्ट में लकड़ी के कोयले का पाउडर मिलाएं और इससे हल्के हांथो से दांत सांफ करें । कोयले के पाउडर का दिन में 2 बार इस्तेमाल करने से आपके दांत चमकने लगेंगे।
12. संतरे का छिल्का
संतरे का विटामिन सी दाँतों के कीटाणुओं को मारता है। यह दांतों को मजबूत और ज्यादा सफ़ेद करता है। तो अब से जब भी मौका मिले रात को सोने से पहले संतरे के छिलके से दांत घिसें।

13. केले का छिलका 
 केला पोषक पदार्थों से भरपूर होता है। केले के छिलकों से भी कई लाभ मिल सकते हैं। केले के छिलको में पोटैशियम, मैग्नीशियम और मैंगनीज़ जैसे पोषक पदार्थ मौजूद होते हैं। इन पदार्थों की मदद से आपके दांत चमकदार बन सकते हैं। केले का थोड़ा सा छिलका लें और इसके सफ़ेद भाग को दांतों पर 2 से 3 मिनट तक घिसें। इसके बाद इसे 15 मिनट के लिए छोड़ दें और किसी अचछे टूथपेस्ट से दांतों को साफ़ करें। 2 से 3 हफ़्तों तक ऐसा करने पर आपको बेहतर रिजल्ट  नजर आने लगेगा।
14. किशमिश 
किशमिश इस्तेमाल से आपके पीले दांत सफ़ेद हो सकते हैं। जब भी आपको समय मिले तो किशमिश चबाना शुरू कर दें।  इससे मुंह के अंदर लार बनेगी और प्लाक पूरी तरह हट जाएगा।
15. दूध और दही 
आपके दांतों को अच्छे से स्वास्थ्य के लिए कैल्शियम और फॉस्फोरस की आवश्यकता होती है। आप दूध और दही के मिश्रण की सहायता से पीले दांतों की समस्या को दूर कर सकते हैं। इससे आपके दांतों के इनेमल में खनिज की मात्रा दोबारा भर जाती है। चमकदार दांतों के लिए यह काफी बेहतरीन उपाय है।

एक बात का ध्यान रहे कि गलत खान-पीन की वजह से भी दांतों में पीलापन आता है। फास्ट फूड, मीठा हमारे दांतों पर चिपक जाता हैं जो दांतों को पीला बनाता है। सबसे पहले तो अपने खान-पान का ध्यान रखें। ऐसे फल और सब्जियों को खाएं जिन्हें चबाने की जरूरत पड़े।

Although depression is usually not considered life-threatening, it can lead to thoughts of and attempts at suicide.


  • Persistent feelings of sadness, apathy, or hopelessness lasting more than two weeks.

  • Diminished interest in most daily activities, particularly pleasurable ones.

  • Decreased appetite and subsequent weight loss; increased appetite and weight gain.

Because there are no reliable laboratory tests to diagnose depression, physical examination and psychological evaluation are essential.

  • Expression of either of the first two symptoms of depression (see Symptoms box), in conjunction with other symptoms, for a period of two or more consecutive weeks.

  • A positive family history of depression or a prior depressive episode helps establish the diagnosis.


  • Psychotherapy is as effective as drug treatment in mild cases. Psychotherapy may also be used in conjunction with drug therapy.

  • Chances are you've never heard of vaginismus (or, as it is now known, genito pelvic pain penetration disorder) before. Why? Because it's the disorder nobody wants to talk about, least of all those whom it most affects - women. Vaginismus is musculature of the outer third of the vagina, which interferes with coitus and causes distress and interpersonal difficulty.
  • Among the male factor infertility, erectile dysfunction was found to be the top ranking cause accounting for 79.37% followed by premature ejaculation 12.01%, Lack of sexual desire 3.92%, homosexual orientation 2.79%, sexual aversion disorder 1.31% and disorders of sexual preference 0.61%. 
  • Vaginismus is believed to be a psycho-physiologic disorder due to fear from actual or imagined negative experiences with penetration and/or organic pathology. Women with vaginismus have also been noted to have a lack of sex education.  Vaginismus was the 63.9% , ed 11.9% , PME 8.3% , low male sexual desire 2.7%, low sexual desire in female 13.9% dysfunctional underlying non consummation of marriage is largely treatable. Adaptation to the situation usually occurs and associated factors add to the primary cause. Treatment of the underlying dysfunction can challenge the relationship.
  • Sexual dysfunction is a common problem which leads to inter-personal problems and marital discord. defined as recurrent or persistent involuntary spasm of the with coitus and causes distress and interpersonal difficulty. 

 Treating vaginismus merits a two-front approach which includes behavioral sex therapy techniques and relational intervention. When appropriate, the behavioral intervention consists of prescribing dilators (from smallest to largest) that the wife is to use in the privacy of her own home to gradually desensitize herself to penetration (the fourth and usually largest dilator is roughly the size of a penis).  While the husband may be called upon to help his wife insert the dilators (depending on his wife's comfort level), for the most part his job is to ease off the pressure for her to perform, be supportive, and try to understand his role in the marital dynamic (usually an enabling one) and the associated symptom.
Ascribing to a psychodynamic model of treatment, is helpful for a couple to understand where their symptom came from, but I'll admit this is not always necessary for them to achieve a positive outcome. Nevertheless, employing the psychodynamic systems approach to uncover any conflicts that might be behind or exacerbating the vaginismus. These underlying causes may include prior sexual abuse, chronic control struggles experienced in the family of origin, negative messages or beliefs about sex emanating from the family of origin, religious values that conflict with sexual pleasure, to name a few. I also pay close attention to the couple's interactional style in order to assess whether it, too, is a contributing factor.

 What causes it?

One or both partners may be anxious that penetration will be painful, that there will be bleeding, or that the woman will get pregnant.  While a certain amount of anxiety surrounding sexual activity is normal, when one or both partners are overly anxious, sexual function can be affected in the following ways: The male partner may have difficulty maintaining an erection strong enough to allow penetration or he may lose his erection just prior to intercourse. Anxiety may contribute to premature ejaculation, also just prior to reaching penetration. Anxiety may prevent the woman from relaxing enough to allow penetration. She may close her legs or contract her vaginal muscles. This presentation is referred to as vaginismus, defined as the persistent or recurrent difficulty of a woman to allow vaginal entry of a penis, a finger, and/or any object, despite her expressed wish to do so. While anxiety may indeed be a factor contributing to and perpetuating many sexual problems, there are many components to sexual problems, including physiological ones. Therefore, each partner in a couple presenting with an unconsummated marriage should undergo a physical exam. 
  • Physical presentations of the female partner that might prevent intercourse can include sexual pain disorders such as localized vulvodynia, also known as vulvar vestibulitis syndrome. This fairly common condition is characterized by pain with touch at the entry to the vagina, which can prevent intercourse. A woman's hymen may be a barrier to intercourse. Some women have a very thick hymen, or a septate hymen, which is a thin piece of membrane running vertically which separates the vagina in to two sides. While most of these conditions can be addressed with sexual counseling and  physical therapy, including use of vaginal dilators, in most cases a septate hymen needs to be repaired surgically.
  •  Frequently, lack of knowledge about sexual anatomy and physiology may contribute to a situation whereby attempting intercourse feels awkward and un-natural. Often all that  is needed is some basic anatomical information  and positioning advice. For example, a couple may report that the woman's vagina feels dry and excess friction prevents intercourse. In this case, the couple may  be  advised to ensure that intercourse take place when the woman is sufficiently aroused after plenty of exciting foreplay. Over the counter lubricants may be very helpful.  While some people are physically active, very aware of their bodies, and comfortable with movement, other people are less so and may simply have not figured out how their bodies move in order to comfortably find a position for intercourse. One or both of the partners may have mobility problems or difficulty getting in to or maintaining a position. A woman may have difficulty keeping her legs open or a man may not be able to hold his weight up on his arms.  In these cases as well, consultation with a physical therapist may be helpful in providing exercises and positioning advice.
  • While behavioral solutions may be found for many couples, it is important to note that couples in unconsummated relationships, particularly of long standing duration, may benefit from couples therapy directed by a competent Sexologist. A doctor working with such a couple may wish to gain understanding in how the couple presents and organizes around the problem: How is the presenting problem perceived by each partner? Is there attribution of blame?  What is the significance of the dysfunction itself and how is that perceived by the couple? Who is aware of this situation and in what way is outside intervention (community, parents, and religious leader) perceived in assisting or perpetuating this condition?  Identifying the various factors contributing to the condition and dealing with them with physical, psychosexual, and couples therapy, may be the key to consummation and the commencement of a satisfying intimate life.

  • Most women who experience vaginismus choose to live with it rather than come forward and have it treated. Even those in long-term relationships may try to conceal what is happening from their partner or forgo sexual relations all together.
  • "If they don't do that, they cut that part of intimacy out of their relationship altogether and choose to shut down any intimate feelings they might have. They end up having a very different kind of relationship.
  • "What is important to say is there is a cure and they can be helped. That's the message that needs to get out there. Treatment for vaginismus have included systematic desensitization along with insertion of graded dilators/fingers11, drugs like anxiolytics, botulinum toxin injection,12 
  • and sex therapy. An In the Indian scenario where the talk about sex is taboo and limited among partners it becomes very essential to first improve their communication so as to improve the sex related issues. eclectic approach involving education, graded insertion of fingers, Kegel's exercises and usage of anaesthesia with vaginal containment was tried.

How do I know if I have gum disease?
Gum disease is generally painless, even though it damages the bone supporting the teeth. Gum disease (gingivitis) will usually show itself as red, swollen gums that bleed when you brush or clean between your teeth. Many people are worried when they notice their gums are bleeding and then brush more gently, or stop altogether. In fact, it is important that you continue to clean regularly and thoroughly if you are to fight the gum disease. If the bleeding does not go away within a few days see your dental team to ask for their advice.

Brushing is a daily routine of everyone’s life.Many among us do not know how to brush the teeth in correct manner.There are many aspects other than brushing alone which cannot be overlooked.

There are several methods and techniques which are recommended by the dentist for tooth brushing.Some of them are,

A. Charter method B. Bass method C. Stillman method D. Fones method.

These are meant for particular cases depending on his/her oral condition. Though these techniques are not meant for every individual there are certain common mistakes we must avoid while doing brushing. Today I will tell you the most common mistakes we make while brushing,

1) The wrong angle:

The angle of the brush should be 45 degree to the gum line for to have greater efficiency in cleaning. This angle ensures the safe brushing without wearing of tooth and injuries to gums.This is the first step.

Second step is moving the brush on vertical (upside down/downside upward) cleans the food debris between the two teeth. Horizontal rubbing to the front surface of tooth leads to faster tooth loss and less efficient cleaning.Repeat the same direction from both the surfaces of all the teeth.

2)The time spent on brushing:                              

 Ideal time for to spend on brushing is 3 to 7 minutes. In less than 3 minutes the hard plaque( food debris) doesn’t get soften enough to get removed by brush. Tooth paste have softening agent in it which requires at least 3 minutes to act on the food ruminants inside our mouth.       

3)The Wrong Consistency  Of  Brush:

 Have you ever looked for the consistencies while buying your tooth brush? Hard,Medium,Soft,Ultra soft. These are written on the tooth brush.Depending on your gum and teeth condition your dentist will advise you to use appropriate consistency. Using wrong consistency can injure your gums and teeth.Too hard brush will damage your gums and too soft will not do efficient cleaning.

4)Using same brush for months:                     

Do not get too attached to your tooth brush, change it periodically. If your tooth brush gets worn before two to 3 months it means you are too hard on your teeth. Change your brush every 3 to 4 months. If you follow the ideal protocol and correct brushing technique your brush should last for 3 months.

5)Not Cleaning your tongue :

Tongue cleaning is the last but one of the important part of your oral hygiene maintenance.

You can clean your tongue either by brush by giving soft strokes on the tongue or you can buy the tongue cleaner available in the market.Being a soft and rough texture it becomes good habitat for the bacteria.

Hello lybrate-user if you are overweight you need to loose some weight. Take treatment for minimum 3 months for pco and then start medication for ovulation induction along with pco. Consult an infertility expert as you need to be monitored for ovulation too. This will help you. Do give it a try. All the best.
