Allergic Rhinitis

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
ENT Specialist, Solapur

Allergic Rhinitis:

  • Allergic rhinitis is commonly known as hay fever.
  • Common symptoms include sneezing, stuffy nose, watery eyes, and a sore, scratchy throat.
  • Possible triggers include grass, pollen, dust mites, cockroaches, cigarette smoke, and perfume.

An allergen is a normally harmless substance that causes an allergic reaction.
Allergic rhinitis, or hay fever, is an allergic response to specific allergens. Pollen is the most common allergen.

1) recurrent sneezing

2) running nose

3) blocked nose

4) itching in nose

5) recurrent coughing

6) pricky or sore throat

7) itching in eyes

8) watery eyes

9) under eye circles

10) frequent headaches

11) fatigue

When your body comes into contact with an allergen, it releases histamine, which is a natural chemical that defends your body from the allergen.

This chemical causes allergic rhinitis and its symptoms, including a runny nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes.

In addition to pollen, other common causes include:

1) grass

2) dust

3) animal dander, cat

4) saliva

5) mold

What is allergy, I had dust allergy, every day I had cold, how to solve my problem.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Allergies are caused by the body’s hypersensitivity to foreign substances such as pollen, animal dander, dust and food. Irritation of the mucous membranes along the upper respiratory system is common. Symptoms are sneezing, a runny nose, itchy eyes, irritation of the roof of the mouth, a stuffy nose, congested sinus areas and a headache. Allergies are not simple to treat; they generally represent a chronic problem that is genetic, although they may skip one, two or three generations. Homeopathic remedies can help in the acute stages of allergies to help relieve the symptoms, but usually a more constitutional approach to help the underlying condition is necessary for permanent help.

What is Rheumatology? Who is a Rheumatologist? What is Autoimmune Disorder? What is Arthritis?

DM - Rheumatology, MD - General Medicine

What is Rheumatology? Who is a Rheumatologist? What is Autoimmune Disorder? What is Arthritis?

What is Rheumatology?

Rheumatology is a field of medicine, which deals with diseases having joint pain, arthritis and other related symptoms. It derives its origin from word ‘rheumatism’, which means anything related to joint or body pain.

Follow this link below for more information

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis means joint pain associated with inflammation (redness, warmth and swelling). All joint pains are not arthritis.

All joint pains are not arthritis.

Most rheumatology diseases are a particular type of arthritis. However, depending on disease type, they can affect any organ of the body. Thus, they can be serious diseases too. They even affect children and young people.

Rheumatology diseases are autoimmune diseases

Rheumatic diseases are often autoimmune in nature. Autoimmune diseases are diseases,  where a part of one’s own immune system automatically starts  acting against itself. It is unknown why this ‘auto’ ‘immune’ activation causes problems only in a few. Note, it is not the low immunity, but over active immunity, which is the problem. Over active immunity loves to hit joints, this is why most rheumatic diseases have arthritis.

Who is a Rheumatologist?

Rheumatologist is a physician doctor, who is specially trained to investigate & treat various types of arthritis and rheumatic diseases with medicines. They are also commonly known as ‘joint pain or arthritis’ doctors. They are different from orthopaedic doctors, who are surgeons. However, both type of doctors need to work together, at times, to treat some patients.

It is necessary to start treatment early if you suffer from rheumatic illness. As immunity is  over active in these diseases, the medicines used to treat these diseases regulate and sometimes suppress the immune system. Early effective treatment helps prevent serious joint damage and can help save life in serious rheumatic disease.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
Unfortunately the best solution is to avoid eating wheat or wheat products. There are some methods to avoid allergic reaction while having wheat like taking antihistaminic drugs, epinephrine, steroids, immunomodulators ect. But not advocated since these are long term medications and also will compromise your body further. Thank you.

Allergy - Top Natural Cures You Can Opt For!

Allergy - Top Natural Cures You Can Opt For!

A runny nose, Itchy rash, red eyes and shortness in breath are the most common allergic phenomenon which annoys you in frequent intervals, generally driven by several conditions due to hypersensitivity of the immune system towards something usual prevailing in the environment which may not cause any threat to others. It is why you may find different person allergic to different foods or different conditions.

Diseases such as asthma, anaphylaxis, atopic dermatitis and so on are commonly considered as predominant allergic diseases. But most of the marketed drugs you take are as exasperating as the allergy itself, firstly due to its expensiveness and secondly, it droops you out. Though you may not be able to diminish the pollen in the air, but you can restrict the number of drugs you take by choosing natural remedies as it has been propounded by the medical editor of WebMD Dr Brunilda Nazario. He has also stated that the biggest trend we observe in allergies in these days is not found in any technological innovation or development rather it is the tendency of the common people to go for natural treatment to cure allergy.

‘Prevention is better than cure’- Cleanse your nose daily before the allergy strikes
According to most of the doctors, nowadays you are commonly encountered by seasonal allergies. It is mainly due to the fact that allergy season seems to appear earlier every year than the previous one. So as Nathanael Horne, MD of New York Medical College advises that you should begin treating allergies before it starts to pose threat. One such step is to spritz a saline cleanse into your nose on a daily basis in order to wash away pollen. Obviously, this particular method would not replace your need for medication but it would certainly minimise your dependence on drugs. In one survey, those who clean their nose twice a day with saline water are reported less nasal congestion than others.

About some of the seful natural herbs which fight allergy
Famous allergist from New York, Dr Tim Mainardi is of opinion that natural herbs are comparatively more effective than any other drugs and among them, one of the scientifically proven fighters of allergy you have, is Green tea because it is a natural antihistamine. According to his suggestion, if anybody starts to take two cups of green tea a day about two weeks before the arrival of the allergy season, it is likely to resist allergic infection. Mainardi also says that there is an another natural herb called butterbur, which effectively fights allergy as well as antihistamines. Apart from this Liquorice root is also a good choice because it helps to helps to raise the level of naturally produced steroid in your body and ameliorate immunity system.

Cook with turmeric to get rid of allergy:
If you taste every Indian dishe, you would get one spice common in all of them and that is Turmeric. Bharat Aggarwal, an Indian allergist expert from Houston considers Turmeric more efficacious than any other drugs in certain conditions as it contains Curcumin. It is why Turmeric may act as a decongestant. Though in the end, it should be mention that before you go with the natural treatment you should consult your doctor because these natural treatments would incorporate various alterations in your diet and medication.

Hi Lybrate-user Small airway obstruction may be early sign of asthma. It indicates that your lung airways are slightly narrow. As a consequence of it you may have cough and breathing difficulty. It is not serious and can easily be controlled by treatment.

Dear Lybrate user, Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety medicines alone cannot cure anxiety disorders mainly because medicines do not alter behavior. Behavior change and Continuous practice of the changed behavior cure anxiety. I suggest anxiety education, progressive counseling and progressive psychotherapy. I assure you complete cure. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.
