Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. There is no mention of fasting, pp glucose values, hba1c%, present dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, weight and height, plus bp readings and lipid profile. To give any kind of suggestion or advise I need to know all the above details.
When diabetes is well controlled fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, pp 160 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.8. Thanks.

Treatment for type 2 diabetes includes monitoring your blood sugar levels and using medications or insulin when needed. Doctors also recommend losing weight through diet and exercise. ... If you start eating healthier, get more exercise, and lose weight, you can reduce your symptoms.

It is better you get a test called as Hba1c done. It will give an idea of the average sugar level in your body over past 3 months. It will help to decide whether you need a dose increment/change of medicines.

Get your c-peptide test done after 8 hour fasting. C-peptode is a amino acid complex released when a molecule of proinsilin breaks down to insulin hence it is an indirect measurement of insilin. Normalrange is 0.5-2 ng/ml of blood. If your c-peptide is less than normal means insulin is less and indicates type 1 diabetes, if more than more insulin is produced as in type 2 diabetes.

Your husband is actually taking three medications in the form of two medicines. Tendia is a gliptin and it helps to lower your blood sugar by increasing incretin levels. Glycomet gp contains metformin and glimepride. Glimepride helps to lower your insulin by helping pancreas to produce more insulin. Metformin decreases glucose absorption and increases glucose utilisation. Metformin helps to decrease your fasting sugar while glimepride helps in decreasing your sugar after you have food. In pt of pcod there is increased insulin resistance ,metformin being a insulin sensitizer drug decreases the insulin resistance, it also helps in reducing wt and in ovulation. Total dose is 1500 mg taken in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Lifestyle changes for wt reduction should also be adopted.
