Mr. lybrate-user, You have not mentioned which drug/s you are taking and what is the current dosage. Hence, difficult to advise. If blood glucose is marginally high, then one can bring it down to desired level by 1) increased exercise or 2) reduced food intake. There is no need to always increase the dose. Looking at your weight and height, BMI is 26.49 kgs/M2, which is showing over weight. So reduction weight itself will bring down the blood glucose. Thanks.

Hi
Blood sugars in diabetics are always checked with intake of medicines to make sure the medicines are helping them in controlling their diabetes and also it helps in deciding the dose. If you check it without taking medicines it will definitely show high values as you are a diabetic. So always check your blood sugars without stopping your diabetes medicines.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Both values are showing that there is pre-diabetic situation. Following are the criteria for diagnosing diabetes: 1) Normal: Fasting: 70 to 110 mg, PP<140 mg & HbA1c% <5.7.
2) Pre-diabetes: FBG 108 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg & HbA1c% 5.7 to 6.4 %
3) Diabetes:FBG: > 126 mg, PP: 200 mg, HbA1c% >6.5.So you are in prediabetes condition. This is a warning signal. If proper care is not taken, then you are likely to develop diabetes in next few weeks, months or...more

Sorry to know that your mother blood sugar levels are elevated Initially taking low sugar diet, exercises and medicines, if required, will be able to control her blood sugar levels
It will be proper to see a physician you can guide her with these aspects of diabetes management and assess her for other comorbidities
I will suggest you find a physician and be in regular consultation with him/her for proper management of her diabete

Yes you require to consult your doctor and start treatment Hyperglycemia can damage the vessels that supply blood to vital organs, which can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke, kidney disease, vision problems, and nerve problems in people with diabetes.
