It is a mood stabilizer. It may be stopped after 5 years after consulting your psychiatrist, provided she is completely asymptomatic during this period and is on regular follow up.

If recent, it could signal that your disorder is about to get aggravated. It is advisable to report these symptoms to your psychiatrist and seek treatment for the same.

Hello. Your mother appears to be affected by a condition called epilepsy (most probably generalised tonic clonic siezure) which is going to remain there for life.
