I am taking vilazine 40 .can I drink occasionally alcohol? Could it effects my libido?
Hi, Vilazodone (Active ingredient in Vilazine) is an antidepressant. There is usually no serious interaction with small amounts of alcohol. However, alcohol has direct effect on some Mental Illnesses (particularly anxiety disorders) and your treating Psychiatrist will be in a better position to answer if there is any potential for deterioration of the underlying illness for which Vilazodone has been prescribed. It can decrease libido in few cases. However, Depression is more common culprit for decreased libido and in majority of the cases it actually improves libido. Best wishes.

I am 24 year old suffering from mental illness. I met many doctors told them but their medicine doesn't work. Is it means they are not getting right about my disease. Actually I captured in this problem due to thinking very very negative. I know that there is no chemical imbalance in my brain. But the problem is related to muscles in forehead area. Doctors gave me medicines like VALZ, VILAMID, D-VENIZ, CELLIPRA, NEXITO, REXPIRA etc. I have taken these medicines maximum up to two months individually in regular intervals. Are these medicines helpful for me? Actually I feel problems in study. There is no focus, no sharp concentration. My study speed is very slow. Slow Working of brain. Whenever I study, I don't grasp quickly the summery of my text. Yawning comes in half an hour. Please let me know the correct and effective medicine or treatment for me and also tell me what actually happened in my forehead muscles. I feel that there is yielding. If yes then can it be treated by medicines completely and quickly?

Dear lybrate-user, Most antidepressants work more or less at the same level. Mostly, you go by the side-effects - whether they are acceptable by you. Both Vilazodone and Bupropion have minimal sexual side effect. Fluoxetine has more erectile dysfunction. Weight and sedation are also to be taken into account. If you can tolerate effective dose of TCA, you can try. Otherwise go for Venlafaxine. The only tip is - it is not the antidepressant. It is the duration (minimum 3-6 weeks) and dose (TCA and Venlafaxine 75 - 225 mg) of the tablet that matters.

Ayurvedic Insomnia Treatment In Ayurveda, Insomnia is known as Anidra. According to the Ayurvedic perspective, the doshas (Ayurvedic humors) responsible for this disease are Tarpak Kapha, Sadhak Pitta or Prana Vata. Tarpak Kapha is a sub-dosha of Kapha (Water). It nourishes the brain cells and facilitates a good night’s sleep. Imbalance of this dosha causes poor nourishment of brain cells, leading to Insomnia. Sadhak Pitta is a sub-dosha of Pitta (Fire) and is located in the heart. It controls emotions, desires, decisiveness, and spirituality. Its imbalance makes a person demanding and workaholic, thereby leading to situations that may cause lack of sleep. Prana Vata is a sub-dosha of Vata (Air). It is linked to insomnia, worry, anxiety, and problems like depression. Prana Vata makes the nervous system sensitive; this sensitive nervous system coupled with an aggravated Prana Vata lead to insomnia. In each patient, different combinations of doshas can lead to the disease. The Ayurvedic treatment of Insomnia focuses on balancing the aggravated body energies through herbal medicines as well as customized diet and lifestyle plans. Besides that, relaxation of mind is also important part of the treatment.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Marijuana addiction comes under SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND ADDICTION. Deaddiction treatment is best suited for such addictions. Medically assisted drug detoxification or alcohol detoxification alone is ineffective as a treatment for addiction. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) recommends detoxification followed by both medication (where applicable) and behavioral therapy, followed by relapse prevention.

Hello, Vilano 40 being a anti-depressant can cause insomnia, of course. I being a homoeopath can pass no comment on your medication. It would be better & safe to consult your physician in this regards. Tk, care.
