Asked for male, 51 years old from Pune

I have bipolar disorder diagnosed in 2010. I have been prescribed Lovax 300 (oxcarbazepine) two times a day as mood stabilizer. It works very well for me, except that it gives me terrible back pain especially in lower back. If I stop it in 4-5 days the back pain goes. But again when I start it the back pain returns in 4-5 days. I was given Torvate Chrono (Valproic Acid) as mood stabilizer in the past but it caused severe lethargy and sleepiness in afternoon due to high serum Ammonia levels. I can not take lithium as I have severe Diabetes and take insulin 120 units total in a day. My doctor says there is no other mood stabilizer available and Lovax (oxcarbazepine) is best mood stabilizer for me as it has min side effects. But leaves gives me horrible back pain but my Dr. does not agree that Lovax causes back pain. Can you please advise if Lovax can cause such severe back pain? Otherwise what should I do?

The psychiatrist is correct you have been given 3 best mood stabilizers and you are not able tolerate them. But wait, recent recommendations are there that if people don't tolerate mood stabilizers, low dose antipsychotics can be used as mood stabilizers. So you can try that from your psychiatrist.

I have been observing high level of sugar in my blood levels around 180 fasting and 220 normally on some days, normally it remains within limits. I am not controlling my diet on days when sugar level is normal I am 37 with no family history of high sugar levels. Kindly suggest what tests could be done to identify the problem n what do you diagnose out of it. I have been on valprin chrono 500 due to epileptic seizures which occurred around 12 yrs back.

Hba1c is most reliable test and gives an approximate idea of past 3 months sugar level. At your age target should be near to 6.5 with diet exercise and medication. Along with hba1c, following tests needs to be done as you are on anti epileptics as well.

I am 19 year old and having JUVENILE MYOCLONIC EPILEPSY. I went to a neurologist. I had EEG test and doctor prescribed VALPARIN CHRONO 200 tablets twice a day. And said there will be life long treatment because it can be controlled but can't be cured. Also my any of my family member or relative don't have any neurological issue. I am first to have a disorder like this. Doctor said it might be due to weakness. I am underweight and too weak since childhood.

I am having problem of getting seizures. But I can feel it coming before 10 minutes. I took MRI scan. Doctor said there is no problem inside my head. He asked me to take Encorate Chrono 300 tablet for 3 years to prevent from fits. The problem now is am not getting fits after continuing that tablet for 1 year but every night I get a feeling of fainting. Every night alone am getting very tiered and week and feel like fainting. Please help me with this problem.

Hi... The seizure will remain absent till you take the medicine... But there are no guarantees that it will not come after 3 years... So if you want to wait till then you may wait...

You may consult for homoeopathic treatment... There are chances that it will be cured if taken as advised and also it has no side effects like you are having now.

Can you tell me the details about the treatment to increase the sperm production? An year before, I took medications such as sizodon and torvate chrono 300. As a result, I can hardly see any amount of sperm. All I can see is a drop of transparent liquid while masturbation. I asked for help before and one doctor said it's completely treatable and he wanted to know my food habits. I mostly consume cooked rice and got no drinking or smoking habits. What are the foods that I should intake to increase the sperm production? Please help!

Don't skip breakfast. Eat regular meals. Eat plenty of fruit and veg. Get more active. Drink plenty of water. Eat high-fibre foods. Read food labels. Use a smaller plate.
