Hi lybrate-user. Is your anxiety, irritation and agitation recent? Or has it been present since a long time?
If recent, it could signal that your disorder is about to get aggravated. It is advisable to report these symptoms to your psychiatrist and seek treatment for the same.
It may be necessary to conduct some blood tests to check for other medical problems.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hello. Your mother appears to be affected by a condition called epilepsy (most probably generalised tonic clonic siezure) which is going to remain there for life. As she is taking zeptol 400 (carbamazepine) regularly, it is the drug of choice for this condition too along with valproate and is quite safe too. This medicine is not the cause for diabetes and hyperchlesterolemia. But as she has already taken medications for more than 15 years with out occurance of single episode of convulsion and un...more

Anyway continue the medications till you meet a psychiatrist. Regarding Fluvovin 50, it should be taken at bed time as it has sedative property and dose increment can be done if required. Side efeect of dicorate are usually hepatic dysfunction, weight gain, PCOS, tremor, hair loss etc. Wheras common side effect of Fluvoxin are...more

Bipolar Disorder is a form of severe mental illness, characterised by episodes of depression and Hypomania/mania (elevated mood). For a clear diagnosis, initial episodes must occur in absence of brain condition, head injury, or illicit drugs misuse. Later episode may be precipitated by drugs use or other medical conditions like infection etc. I think Bipolar disorder is often misdiagnosed and improperly treated. Equally, if someone has clear cut diagnosis, then then must receive adequate and car...more

I wish you had consulted a counselor also when he first had his problems. This is an anger related problem if you look for emotional causes. As a parent you are most likely to know what may have contributed to this anger sometime in childhood. In late adolescence (when he had his first attack), it was a last chance that he will get to resolve any childhood trauma but nobody may have been aware of this. It is still not late to pursue therapy apart from the medication. In therapy I would advise th...more
