Divalproex sodium is used to treat certain types of seizures (epilepsy). This medicine is an anticonvulsant that works in the brain tissue to stop seizures. Divalproex sodium is also used to treat the manic phase of bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), and helps prevent migraine headaches.

Hello dear, thanks for sharing the information. Well you need to be confirmed about the diagnosis of the baby made by your doctor as valproex is used in a child with epilepsy and not in night terror. Kindly tell whole history and also can share the prescription if possible.

The medicines you mentioned here are all sedatives in different form and this causes dryness and leads to body heat, so keep taking fruits which will hydrate your body like banana, salads, shakes, juices, fresh fruits, melon. Water melon.

Take medicines prescribed by your doctor regularly. I suggest you to go for yoga and meditation for the same. Its our body. And hence it knows better how to deal with any problem. No outer medicine , therapy will work if your inner zeal won't work. Remember over dependence on any medicine makes you their slave.

Dear lybrate-user, bipolar disorder causes serious problems in your life. Whereas sexual problems can be discussed and adjusted with your partner. Please give a thought to it.
Sexual problems can be due to diabetes either partially or fully. Discuss with your physician about it.
There are no medicine without side effect. You have to weigh the effect vs side effect. Divaa is not an addicting medicine. You need to take it for your life just like diabetes and thyroid medicines.

Yes. It would affect. Not only the speed of recovery, but the response of medications would be less effective if not taken regularly. Also, the symptoms might reappear.

The syrups being given are to reduce the behaviour problems and won't directly improve the speech. Consult a child psychiatrist for proper doing of the same. Only intensive ot and speech therapy would improve the outcome in the parameters you mentioned, medications will help him being receptive to the same. Good luck.
