Dear, bipolar disorder needs to be managed properly. In fact, almost all psychiatric medicines manage mental illness. You need to take it positive and learn to live life with satisfaction. Work hard, play games, entertainy ourself, enjoy life etc. These are the steps necessary to manage your bipolar. If you worry more, the conditions worsens. Sweating of palms and feet are due to anxiety and other allied causes. God bless you. Take care.

hi, I can understand your feelings. I think here your mother's age to be blamed for her depression. In India most of the senior citizens just leave the hope for living because of their weak physical health and thus make themselves mentally and physically weak too. Try to make her happy by providing the atmosphere which she likes.
You may invite someone whom she likes to talk to. Provide her with the food which she likes. Don't restrict her to eat . let her move on her own just keep an ...more

Divalproex sodium is a psychotropic medication that is usually not prescribed for plain anxiety disorder diagnosis. I believe your psychiatrist has diagnosed you with some other condition as well for which this medication is being given. Nonetheless you seem to be concerned about weight gain and ask how you could lose weight. Both the medications can result in increased appetite. However consumption of meals or in technical terms caloric intake is in your hands. So a healthy meal along with a re...more

Hi lybrate-user,
your mom may be suffering from dizziness due to many causes. Since you list hypertension, depression, memory loss/amnesia as her medical conditions and that she is currently on medications like donep, lanxtra, divalprid and petril, I suggest that you re-consult the prescribing physician regarding your mother's recurrent dizziness and loss of balance as well as consciousness. If this is more easy to do online, I suggest that you contact the undersigned for a second opinion.

Yes, you can continue under the supervision of a psychiatrist to monitor the effects, side effects and also to start psychotherapy (counseling for your son, family, cbt, coping skills, relaxation techniques) if its not yet started, combination of medication and psychotherapy work better.

Good Afternoon,
Tremors are a significant side effect of the medications and I believe that you will do well with taking the higher dose since you have not had a recurrent of epilepsy. However if the tremors persist, you may need to have a revised list of medications without this side effect and there are many in the market that can cater to your needs. I believe you understand and hope you do not have a recurrent of seizures or epilepsy. I can certainly help with other medications as the n...more
