Provided the test is done from a reliable lab, it means that your blood sugar is not under control. Your average blood sugar over the past 3 months has been around 170 mg/dl. The target should be less than 7 percent. Ensure that you take your medicines on time and follow your diet and exercise a bit more sincerely.

For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in fat and high in fibre. Avoid bakery products. Avoid too much rice and potato. Avoid fried stuff. Avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and fruit juices. Eat lots of vegetables. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week. Medicine and insulin will work better if you follow diet and exercise. Check your blood sugar both in fasting and 2 hours after meal.

No details of present medications, test reports etc. You must reduce your weight to about 64 Kg. It is not the best medicine but most appropriate and effective medicine is selected by your treating doctor taking into consideration your sugar levels, average sugar levels, HbA1c, weight and other parameters. Regular follow up, monitoring and review is a must.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
The fasting glucose is in the prediabetic range. PP is normal. There is no immediate problem. He should maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, avoid too much of sweets, junk foods, bakery items, foods made from maida and colas. Plus refrain from alcohol and smoking. Maintain his weight near normal for height and age. Thanks.
