It seems you think of bp as paramount determinant of health. Measuring bp is a new phenomenon, never previously done.
It can be helpful if done as advised, but it causes plenty of difficulties if done without following the recommended methods. If the combination is benefiting you and as of now has not caused any electrolyte abnormalities, then please continue with it, because it is a very good combination. And remain in regular follow up with your doctors and ask them to advise you blood tests to keep a watch on electrolytes so that you can be assured.

It's always better to take your BP medication early in the morning as soon as you get up from the bed. Cholesterol medications are preferably taken in the evening. Avoid taking too many tablets of BP medicines without advice from your physician. Check your BP regularly and dose of medication should be adjusted after consulting your doctor. Don't do it on your own. High dose of BP medication will cause low blood pressure and they have their own adverse effects so be careful in future.

Yes valsartan can be used in the place of telmisartan.
It's available in strengths of 80 mg /160 mg.
I recommend 80 mg to start with.
