Dear Mr. lybrate-user,
COPD is chronic disease of the airways of your lung. The medications are added as per your lung functions and symptoms. You can discuss the appropriateness of the medications with your doctor. I am not an expert on ayurvedic medicines. Hence, I can not talk on those medicines. Pranayam and walking is a very good thing that you are doing. Most important thing is if you smoke then quit it. That will be the best thing for your lungs. All the best.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. However, either with Glycomet Trio or with Glitaray M edema is unlikely side effect. Only when Pioglitazone is taken there is a possibility of swelling of lower limbs possible. So I am a bit surprised o know that such a side effect is seen in you. Please check your BP and kidney function, because the cause for swelling could be different. There is no mention of how blood glucose is controlled. That is equally important. Thank...more

Sorry to know that your mother is having diabetes and is not controlled by tablets that doctor is giving her and inspite of the fact that she takes a proper diet and exercises daily her blood sugar continues to be high.
In her case it would be fruitful to start insulin
In patients with extreme hyperglycemia, insulin should be started immediately to lower glucose levels. The patient may present with any of the following:
Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels >250 mg/dL;

Mr. Lybrate-user, if one has well controlled diabetes then fasting sugar should be closer to 100mg and pp should be 150 to 160 mg/100 ml and hba1c% <7. If you have maintained these readings consistently then diabetes is in control. With that one is able to prevent or postpone the long term complications of diabetes, which are very serious. You have not given all the details to give any suggestions. Plus there is no mention about fasting, pp sugar levels, hba1c%, dietary pattern and extent of dai...more

Thanks for the query.
When diabetes goes on for very long time (many years), most often the insulin producing beta cell activity goes down. So in many patients oral drugs may not be effective. Secondly if blood glucose remains high, that also causes damage to beta cells. Hence diabetes becomes totally uncontrolled. So in your case there has to be a re-look at the present treatment. Plus we will also have to look at diet and extent of daily exercise and weight reduction. So if you want me to ...more
