Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. There are many brands of Levothyroxine available, anyone of those should be good enough. However, it is better to stick to one particular brand. Thyronorm is another brand available. Thanks.

Mamataji, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. Please clarify the following: 1) why was the test done? What are the symptoms that made you get the test done? In any case tsh 6.6 mu/l is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and invariably no treatment is advocated. However, if any person has presence of severe symptoms of hypothyroidsm then treatment may be initiated. Hypothyroidism is diagnosed when tsh level goes above 10 mu/l plus patient has symptoms of that condition...more

Hello,
if it is persistently around this level then you need revision of bp medicines but if majority bp readings are less than 130/90 then no need to change medicines take care.

Hello, thanks for the query.
Hypothyroidism is treated with adequate dosage of levothyroxine. There are many brands of this drug like thyronorm, eltroxine and many more. Any one is fine. Thanks.

If you're symptomatic you need to take thyroxine or else you can observe your tfts for a while. Unfortunately herbs don't contain thyroxine and once you have a diagnosis of hashimoto's thyroiditis it is hard to reverse it. I can understand your concern regarding medications but a lot of people taking alternative medicine finally get complications.

Hello, thanks for the query.
Madam I have seen the query. Soy products contalin flavins which are supposed to be having antithyroid effect, so it is better to avoid them. As regards other vegetables like spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, radish etc, it is better to use those sparingly as these also have antithyroid effect. But usage in small quantities does not affect. There is no question about absorption, because you are advised to take thyroxine tablet early morning on empty stomach and then...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
Madam if you have got the test done just recently and tsh is 5.8666 mu/l, then there is no hypothyroidism, so no need for any treatment. However, if you have already been on treatment for that condition, then the tsh level is more than what it should be. Because with adequate dosage of levothyroxine tsh is maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l so please clarify that aspect. Another point is have done the anti -tpo antibodies test? Because if the antibodies are in higher ...more

Please consult your doctor. The dose changes very frequently in pregnancy therefore monthly tests are done. The dose will probably increase.
