Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
With TSH value 1.98 mU/L and T4 15.5 ng, it appears her present dosage is a bit higher than required. Because if T4 levels go up, there can be symptoms of excess thyroxine. So there is a need for dose reduction. You can talk to her physician regarding this. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
When a person is on adequate dosage of Levothyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, at which level almost all the symptoms are in check. Isaka matalab aap ka thyroxine dosage kam hai. Use 12.5 mcg se badhana padega aur 6 hafto ke baad fir TSH ka level dekhana chahiye. Thanks.

Yes it alters normal thyroid production and make you dependent on artificial thyroxine .its better to take homoeopathy. It will help you with natural production and also keep it normal. Consult online for treatment. Jai shree shyam.

Mr Aravind, Since you are on treatment for hypothyroidism, effective treatment should bring down TSH levels to 3 to 4 milli units/ml. Your BMI is 25.73 kg/M2, which means being overweight (normal BMI<23kg/M2). Your ideal body weight should be 58 kg. To control hypothyroidism better there needs to be an increase in the dos e of thyroxine and you also need to exercise regularly for at least 1 hour a day.

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
When one is on treatment for hypothyroidism with adequate dosage of Levothyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. At that level all the symptoms are in check. Plus efforts to reduce weight also become successful. With 7.8 mU/L TSH, you need to increase the dosage of Thyroxine and see that TSH level is maintained as mentioned above. There is no cure for hypothyroidism. It needs thyroxine supplement through out the life. Thanks.

If your tsh level has come to normal (between 3 to 4 milli units/l), it means current dose of thyroxine is really adequate. Do not stop or reduce it. In addition if you want to take any other medication, that is fine. Thanks for the question.

Dear lybrate-user,
if your initial tsh was only 10 and if your free t4 or total t4 was normal and if tpo antibodies are negative, you may only have subclinical hyothyroidism.
If this is the case, the more prudent course of action will be to stop thyroxine and monitor tsh and free t4 once in 6 months and start thyroxine only if tsh > 15 and or if tpo antibodies are positive. If you stop thyroxine your sleep may normalize
