Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Usually following delivery requirement of thyroxine reduces. However, since now TSH is at 2.8 mU/L, (recommended range 32 to 4 mU/L), it necessary to continue the same dose. Further, she should check TSH levels periodically (once in 6 months). Please remember treatment of hypothyroidism is for lifetime. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
Ideally TSH should be around 3 to 4 mU/L when hypothyroidism is well controlled in an average person. However, to have pregnancy, it should be <2.5 mU/l and similarl level needs to be maintained during gestational period. TSH 0.04 is a bit too low, it points to excess Thyroxine activity. Thannks.

Mr Chandan, Thyroxine tablets do not cause such effect at all. Do you have any cough or throat infection? There may be some different reason for blood that may have been noticed.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. Please understand hypothyroidism is a condition were the thyroid gland of that person is either not producing enough of T4(Thyroxine) or nil at all. So that person needs to take synthetic levothyroxine supplementation to meet the need. This hormone is required for many vital functions of the body like maintaining body temperature, heart rate, normal brain activity and running many metabolic activities. So it has to be supplanted fr...more

lybrate-user, You are on treatment with thyroxine tablets, which is the right treatment for hypothyroidism. Howere, to be free from all the symptoms TSH level has to be brought between 3 to 4 mU/L. So it appears your Thyroxine dosage is low. Needs to be increased. Thanks.

Mr Surendra, You are on the right treatment, Hypothyroidism can only be controlled by thyroxine treatment. What are the latest or current TSH levels? Are your symptoms in control? If not then there may be a need to increase the dosage of thyroxine tablets. I am sure you are aware that this is a life long therapy.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
TSH level 0.054 mU/L is a bit too low. This means your present dosage is higher than required. You may have to reduce it by 12.5 mcg or 25 mcg per day. Once new dosage is begun, check TSH after 6 weeks, to see if there is desired change. TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. Your present TSH can lead to symptoms due to excess thyroxine. Thanks.

Hello,
Please understand hypothyroidism is a hormone (thyroxine, produced by thyroid) deficiency disorder. Since this hormone is required for multiple vital functions in the body and for normal functioning of brain, it needs to be supplemented every day because your gland is not producing adequate or nil.
Since you are taking the drug regularly, the reports keep coming normal. That does not mean that hypothyroidism is cured. The moment you stop treatment, tsh level will go up, plus all t...more

lybrate-user, Taking thyroxine tablets in specific dose as prescribed is the only treatment for hypothyroidism. This is a hormone deficiency condition, hence, treatment is lifelong. There is no other option. Thanks.
