Kantiji, Thanks for the query.
On treatment with thyroxine, one should be able to maintain TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L, then only all the symptoms are in control. Therefore, your present dose appears to be inadequate. Better to increase by 12.5 mcg, then check TSH after 6 weeks, if level still more than recommended, then the dose may have to be increased again. Thanks.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the quer.
Since you have started taking Thyroxine only 10 days back, there will be no change in TSH. It takes more than 4 weeks for TSH levels to show the effect. So do not change the dose. Check TSH level after at least 6 weeks then check. If level is down to about 3 to 4 mU/L, then continue the same dose. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. Your TSH 5.5 mU/L is fine considering your age. Because at this age it is better to have TSH around 5 to 6 mU/L. Lower TSH means increased Thyroxine (T4) activity. Which is not advisable in the persons above 60 years. So no need to increase the dosage. Another aspect do you have any symptoms associated with this situation? If there is no problem at all, then just forget about it. Thanks.
