Dear Gurupal,
Betacap is only to reduce your heart rate, when it beats fast causing fear. So you can stop it, if you don't have palpitations. Rexipra intake will be life long in very rare case of dysthymia. Otherwise it is usually for 6-9 months, depending on the diagnosis of your depression. Please talk to your doctor about stopping rexipra. She/he will gradually reduce and stop it.

Greetings Lybrate user.
It looks like you are going through quite an overwhelming time, unable to manage the physical manifestations of the disorder and the sudden attacks of it. It would be really helpful to you if you could consult a psychologist for intense therapy sessions, that would provide you with a non judgemental environment so that you can open up about your thoughts and feelings. Once the psychologist listens to you and makes you feel heard, they will be able to help you see how ...more

Dear Maryam, Looks like the medication has worked well for you. The side effects however may be related to the medication you are currently on. Before you stop taking the medicine you may want to run a few tests- Complete Blood Picture with emphasis on platelet counts, and Have an ultrasound of your abdomen to rule out liver or spleen enlargement. Please see a physician for further guidance. Take care.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Beta blockers are used quite often to control hypertension and related cardiac problems in patients with diabetes also. They are fairly safe. Some times hypoglycemic episodes may not be easily recognised. Thanks.

Dear user you can reduce your medicines and then stop slowly but first of all I need a complete case history of yours and want to guide you about your thoughts and worries so that without medicines you can enjoy your life in a better way, but without knowing everything I won’t be able to help you. If you want to get rid of over thinking and negative thoughts medicines are not enough counseling will help you in a better way. If you quit medicines with counseling there are bright chances to get ...more

If you don't care about your mental health, you may. Alcohol worsens anxiety, and will prolong your drug requirement days/period. Studies say anxious people taking to frequent alcohol have a higher risk of withdrawal delirium (hallucinations), and addiction rate, and (after regular use) psychotic vulnerability. Be good to your brain.
