Blood sugar control is monitored with the help of hba1c. Your target hba1c should be less than 7. For that you need to either increase the dose of existing medicines or add another medicine .contact a physician for guidance regarding the same. You also need to further intensify lifestyle modifications like diet and physical activity, if possible.
Get your vitamin b12 level checked to find out if there is any deficiency.

Dear lybrate-user
1) your present medication will not help.
2) your sugars are high and may need insulin
3) early insulin therapy prevents further complications.
4) do her hba1c and consult me on private.

You have been longstanding diabetic, as per your own words not well controlled, this could be a complication of diabetes rather than the medications that you are taking. More detailed information may be required from you before suggesting any medication, but surely your problem is quite commmon in diabetic males as more than 50% of them suffer from msd (male sexual dysfunction), but most of the times this is a manageable condition.

No, you should not have done that. Only if you feel symptoms of low sugars (tremors, uneasiness, sweating, hunger) then you should have some sugar.
If you have a glucometer, check sugar levels before having sugar, to avoid unnecessarily high sugars.
For the first instance, it's ok. Nothing to worry about.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. There is no mention of fasting, pp glucose values, hba1c%, present dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, weight and height, plus bp readings and lipid profile. To give any kind of suggestion or advise I need to know all the above details.
When diabetes is well controlled fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, pp 160 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.8. Thanks.

Treatment for type 2 diabetes includes monitoring your blood sugar levels and using medications or insulin when needed. Doctors also recommend losing weight through diet and exercise. ... If you start eating healthier, get more exercise, and lose weight, you can reduce your symptoms.
