Stop atenolol and monitor bp for 3 days morning afternoon and night. Get his complete health checkup done. Including usg abdomen and chest x-ray. Then discuss online with reports or visit my clinic at noida. Reduce salt in diet and ask him to take warm water to drink. Stop cold water or cold drinks.

propranolol or other betablockers group of medicines have minimal side effects compared to other medicines you had been taking
continue with medicines even if bp gets normal because these betablockers reduce the risk of getting heart attack or stroke
second fear, safety for diabetics, these medicines do affect blood sugar levels and lipids too but it's so minimal that your dose of Medicine for diabetes will not be affected.

Seems like allergic problem. Should go away by the end of 5 years. Till then, avoid triggering factors (dust, cold, food causing allergy etc). Take telekast 4 mg tab one daily x 3 months. Don't mix allopathy & ayurveda.
