Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Telmisartan plus Amlodepine (TELMA AM) is a good and safe combination. The other tablet mentioned is Losartan + Hydrochlothiazide. That too is good. Doctor must have changed to newer drug for getting better control. But if she is not comfortable with that, she can take the earlier combination. Thanks.

Hi, Lybrate user,
telma 40 contains "telmisartan" only but 'telma h 'includes "hydrochlorothiazide" with telmisartan, required to treat oedema of feet due to retention of fluid.
Moreover, you need to assess your physical condition, first to start telma h.
Tk, care.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Since he is on two different tablets (Telmisartan + Hydrochlorthiazide & Metoprolol), it is possible that the medications are still not adequate. Some additional treatment is necessary for better control. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I am sure you must have seen the ingredients of both these tablets. There is hardly any difference as glycomet trio 2 contains voglibose 0.2 mg & the other tablet has voglibose 0.3 mg. So there is hardly any difference. Both tablets have similar effect. Most important is you should be able to maintain your fbg < 100 mg or closer to it. Pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%. At that level you will be able to maintain a good health, plus postpone or prevent long term co...more

Telma is considered good with patients with diabetes and that's why doctor suggested.
people just see mg of medicine and believe that telma 40 mg is too high dose than amlodopine 2.5mg.
which is very wrong

please don't follow random suggestions.

the blood pressure at this range can be managed without medicines also.
try salt restricted diet.
yoga and pranayama.

or take Homoeopathic treatment.

What's Kalyani's current Blood Pressure? If it's high she may take like that if she is unable to procure Telma H 80 (Telmesartan 80 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg)
Taking Telma H 40 (Telmesartan 40 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg) twice a day would mean she would be taking additional HCTZ 12.5 mg.
To remain at the same doses, it would be preferable to take Telma H 40 in the morning and Telma 40 (not - H) at night.

It is ok. But you must check your blood pressure regularlyto see that the dose is sufficient for you.

the above mentioned medicines are same formula but the telma cr is of double dose so half a tablet would be sufficient in case one does not procure in nearby pharmacy as an emergency and not to skip the dose.
but confirmation from the consultant is required.
