Avoid sugar, jaggery,honey in any form. Also avoid sweet fruits like mangoes, banana,grapes, cheekoo etc. Take lots of vegetables and salad. Take small frequent meals instead of large ones. Maintain ideal body weight. Exercise regularly.
Salt intake should also less.

Your a young male with hypertension. Only blood tests will not be enough to see what the high bp has had only your body so far. Check your eyesight and do a retinoscopy, get an ecg done, do a renal artery doppler. Once completely evaluated, do dome lifestyle modifications. Low salt n low fat diet, 30 mins of daily exercise, 30 mins of meditation daily. Avoid smoking, get 8 hours of sleep at night. With such modifications your bp should respond. Both are good choices. My preference is for telmisartan single drug treatment for young person
