Hello, thanks for the query.
Bp 170/80 mm hg is showing very high systolic bp. This should be around 130 mm hg. It is clear that taking only telmisartan 40 mg, is not sufficient. There has to be another drug added for better control of the systolic pressure. So it is better to consult her physician and get a specific prescription. There are many options available. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no prescriptions can be given. Thanks.

It would be wise to continue taking the current medicine and go for regular health check up along with frequent BP monitoring. Let your doctor decide whether you require any change in medication / or the dosage of the current medicine needs to be changed. Please focus on healthy diet while avoiding junk food beverages. If you exercise every day ( to maintain fitness and ideal weight ) and learn some relaxation techniques then over the long run you may require less dosage of BP medicine.

My bp is 190/115 taking targit am 40/5 mg since 8 days kindly suggest will it bring my bp to normal.
Dear, targit am is a good medicine, it should bring down the bp. But if it fails to control then let me know. I would adjust the dose accordingly. Dr. Nishith chandra, md, dm, fscai, director interventional cardiology, fortis escorts heart institute, new delhi
