The tablet is unnecessary.
Low lying placenta is seen in many pregnancies, in the first trimester. In 97% cases it will move up as the baby grows and uterus increases in size. You will have scans in 5th month, and again close to 8th month to check position of placenta.
The advised treatment is to avoid sex, and strenuous activities. No medications help.

Hi lybrate-user
it will not stop normal delivery. But is unnecessary at 36 weeks. Lower abdominal pain can be due to soft tissues and bone relaxation in preparation for delivery, or can be due to urinary infection.
Stretch exercises will help in case of tissue pain.
Urine test will rule out/confirm infection.
Either ways, at 36 weeks, nothing much to be done. Your baby is almost fully grown, and even if you get into labour and deliver, baby should be fine. No medication needed. D...more

Isoxsuprine is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether isoxsuprine will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant If your doctor has advices you this medicine, so it means she thinks it’s safe for you.

it seems that your wife may have complained of pain in abdomen and tablets were given to relieve that pain.
the tablets do not have any significant side effects so you need not worry
the placental location is of some concern - it will be safe to rest on bed with leg side raised, avoid exertion and sex up till delivery. repeat USG after 1 month to see if placenta migrates a little higher, in which case some of the above mentioned restrictions can be relaxed.
