For cramping from diarrhea, medicines that have loperamide (Imodium) or bismuth subsalicylate (Kaopectate or Pepto-Bismol) might make you feel better. For other types of pain, acetaminophen (Aspirin Free Anacin, Liquiprin, Panadol, Tylenol) might be helpful.

I had consulted with a pediatric doctor at bhadrak odisha. My 2 years son has effected with viral fever. Pl.tell me the temperature at which I can give paracetamol. I had measured the temperature 102.3 degree fahrenheit still than my son is playing and eating normally. Can I use paracetamol? Pl kindly help me.

There is no need to drastically reduce the temperature if the child is playful and is not sick. Generally the paracetamol is given if the temp is higher than 100 F

Hi my 1 year one month old baby got sudden fever and chills at night but she is completely active all the day even before sleeping but suddenly at 1 pm I noticed fever and chills so that I gave paracetamol syrup. Morning her temperature is normal but again now I noticed temperature so please suggest me whether I have to take her to hospital or should I continue paracetamol syrup please help me with this.

If your child is active and there are no other symptoms you can think it is a viral fever and does not need antibiotics or hospital checkup. Give paracetamol 4th hourly and observe her any other signs for 3 days. In the case there are any other trouble, immediately take her to a doctor.

No it is not necessary unless child is wheezing. Wait for day or two, if there is fever associated with cough and cold see paediatrician again.

My daughter is 3.4 years old. She has falling sick frequently these days, like once in 2-3 months for last 6 months now. In August she had respiratory infections and was hospitalized for venal antibiotics for 5 days. Now again she has cough with high fever. Doctor has prescribed erithromizen and paracetamol. 3 days now, fiver subsides when paracetamol given and returns after 5-6 hours. Please advise what are best ways improve my child's immunity.

Ensure that the child takes the immunisation as per schedul. Since child is having recurrent respiratory tract infection consult child specialist for advice.

Antibiotics is not good for children, but in some circumstances it is given, soo don't worry much, if it is given by your child specialist.

Your child has infection which may need a different antibiotic and need blood and urine tests. Azithral can be given only if infection is proven.

When thermometer does not show temperature above 98.6 f, there is no fever. No mention of other complaints. If some health complaint you should show to a doctor or a child specialist for proper advice.

He has taken just 4 times of normal dose of paracetamol for this age. I don't think it may harm. Give him good quantity of water and keep watching for any abnormal activities. If so, consult pediatrician. Side effects shall pass away after 8 to 12 hours.
