Hi Mr. lybrate-user, the medications you were prescribed are meant to control your symptoms. But the primary cause if any anorectal disease is mainly constipation followed by straining. So any thing you apply, problem may come back if you can't remove the causes. If the problem becomes too strong to interfere in your normal life style, then it is the time to ask about surgical options which will definitely give you long term and sustainable results. Most likely you are suffering from Sentinel tag which develops when Anal Fissure is not treated in time and it becomes chronic.
