Dear Lybrateuser, - Take following measures to prevent bad breath: - brush your teeth twice a day after meals, do flossing once a day, clean back of the tongue with a tongue cleaner once a day, do Listerine mouth gargles once a day

If you don't have fever than continue with home remedies add betakind gargles, mild analgesics like paracetamol. It is very important to avoid irritants like dust smokes perfumes pollutants and to avoid spicy fried chilled junk food. Stop smoking. It should help you.

- have more of warm fluids including water, tea, coffee, soup, avoid all cold fluids and refrigerated foods
- do warm salt water gargles three times a day
- mix a tablespoon of honey in a glass of warm water & have it on rising in the morning
- take throat lozenges three times a day
- avoid fried, spicy, sour & junk foods
- take pain relief tablet after meals if you have pain on swallowing

1st of all try quitting smoking and then I would suggest you to take an antibiotic therapy so that the throat infection settles.
