I have some General Anxiety problem that was effecting my examinations. The I consulted with a doctor and started to take medicines (Serta 100 and Qutan 50 each one once a day) and beside this I started sessions with a Psychologist. The doctor asked me to continue the medicine for a month and also after a month if I was unable to get appointment with him and he will reduce the doses step by step. Four days earlier from the today I visited my Psychologist and she declared me as fit and suggested me to ask the doctor to withdraw the medication with his proper guidance. But now I have some situation and that I can't go to visit the the doctor. Can you please help me by telling me how to withdraw the medication? (I am taking these medicines for almost 50 days, before that I was taking sertima 100 and spenzo 50 for around 1 year).

Does Daxid 50 mg (two tablets daily) have a role to play in curing sleep apnea? Or is it only to treat depression?

Daxid is sertraline which is an antidepressant which increases the serotonin uptake in neurons of brain. It is usually prescribed for depression or anxiety symptoms primarily. Now in sleep apnea it can be prescribed for the secondary mood symptoms of the disorder but if it is prescribed only for sleep apnea symptoms then it's not a rational prescription.

I am using daxid 100 mg since feb 2nd I was undergone postpartum depression after my child birth she was born on jan 14th. First I was on 150 mg due to severe depression sleepless nights suicidal thoughts restlessness not able to concentrate on anything after using daxid 150 mg for a month I became better now I am on 100 mg since 2 months so I am feeling too good now happily enjoying motherhood so now my question is hw I should get off from this tablet I have read some weird stories online about sertraline tablet that we can not stop them immediately and the condition may return so please give me a reply how I should stop and I am getting a side effect of this tab is dry mouth its so irritating so please suggest me.

Can't be stopped abruptly
To be gradually withdrawn.

Sir I am 33 years male am taking risperidone (don ls) 2 mg and sertraline (serta 25 mg) daily. For last 4 years. Recently I got married and diagnosed with erectile dysfunction and loss of testosterone. And high prolactin may be due to risperidone 35 ng .I totally lost sexual desire. Is it due to side effects of above medication. Pls give opinion.

It may be due to effect of the medicines, your prolactin is high so get treatment for it also you can change antidepressant in consultation with the doctor.

You are on an anti depressant medication. If you stop it abruptly you may land up in rebound depression which is dangerous. 1. Consult your psychiatrist for modifying the medication 2. Don't shy for psycotheraphy which is more effective.
3. Yoga medication, active and healthy lifestyle is needed.
4 do not expect others to help you out. Self help is best help. Identify the cause of your depression and work on it slowly you can withdraw from medication and have better life.

I take daxid (sertraline) 100 mg one tablet per day since 1 year and I am mother of a 6 year old son, want to have second child, can I take sertraline 100 mg per day during 9 months of pregnancy, is it safe for foetus, and if I don't take it, may be I ve again depression which ll adversely affect my foetus. I am having normal periods of 28 days cycle and they last for 5 days and my husband use condom so as to avoid pregnancy, as v r very happily married but are worried n confused for having second issue, but we both desperately needs second child. Please and please guide me with your valuable knowledge, doctors.that will be your most grace. I will be highly obliged. Thanks indeed.

Hi lybrate-user. I understand your worry about the possibility of this side effect. But antidepressants cause erectile dysfunction will be very gross and generalised statement. Though sertraline, the drug you r taking, has a risk of sexual dysfunction in some patients, it is not as common as you think and you need not worry about it as if it happens, it is not irreversible.
