Dear Varsha,
It is nice of you to continue to treat your mother for many years. Schizophrenia is a lifelong disorder just like diabetes or high BP. So your mother needs lifelong treatment. Never attempt to take medicines on your own. I feel the psychiatrist whom you have contacted might have advised some physical activity. Please follow them. Still if you don't get relief then you can consult.

You seem to have developed specific phobia leading to chronic anxiety. You have developed a non helpful strategy to deal with this anxiety, that is taking a sleeping pill or serenace. This behaviour perpetuates your anxiety rather than help you overcome. You will greatly benefit from counselling and a review in your medications. Please consult for further help.
