Sometimes change in medicines require dose titration according to your body needs. So inform this to your doctor so that they can make required dose adjustments. Also start lifestyle precautions like - daily 40 mins of exercise, salt restriction, diet change (consult a dietician), quit smoking and drinking.

Both are good choices. My preference is for telmisartan single drug treatment for young person
what other care are you taking for high bp? Tests, diet etc. Maybe take an online consult if you want more details and thorough opinion.

You should not change bp tablet or reduce it without consulting your physician. It only 'controls' bp at certain level but does not cure permanently. Don't change bp dosage without consulting your physician.
