you can be shifted from one to the otherif BP is staying out of range. Usually BP should be checked once every month on fixed dates after resting for ten minutes. Medicine should be changed after 3 month trial and only if it is not achieving desired BP
amlodipine is slow strong effect. Losartan quicker but milder.

Please reduce weight. Do brisk walking. 30 minuts morning and evening. Eat lot of green vegetable and fruits before each meal. If smoking please stop it. Although you are not diabetic. Even though you cut down sugar in your diet. This will help in reduceing weight. Take minimum of oil/ ghee.

Dear Lybrateuser, - If you reduce your weight by diet & exercise then your BP will proportionately reduce by few points
- have more of fibrous foods, fruits, vegetables including green leafy ones, whole grains, legumes, lentils, low fat dairy, lean meats, nuts
- avoid fried, processed & junk foods, restrict intake of salt, also restrict intake of tea, coffee to 1-2 cups per day

- restrict your salt & sugar intake, avoid fried, processed & junk food, foods containing saturated & trans fats, restrict intake of tea, coffee to 1-2 cups
