My age is 22. My BP was 143/84. Doctor first gave me ramipril 2.5 ,then my BP measured 145/100. He then gave me amlopres AT ,now my BP is 154/106 pulse rate above 100. I don't know where I was mistaken or was it my doctor's fault. Is that medication side effect or due to wrong medicine? Is that effect caused due to amlopres AT going to remain permanent? Please help me. Currently in no medication.

My Angioplasty/ bmstenting was done on 29-8-13, since then I am taking Atorvastatin10 mg, Ramipril 2.5mg daily. My heart condition is quite well & my all labs reports of blood sugar, lipid profile, blood pressure are normal. Now I do not want to take these medicines further more. As per cardiologist these medicines will have to take life long period, but I am not interested to take these further more due to side effect of these in form of heavy constipation & back skin dryness & itching whole day. Please advice me regarding stopping above medicines.

You are right , these are side effects of medicines, Atovastin is to lower cholesterol but it does lead to cognitive dysfunction , strain on kidneys and heart. Some doctors are giving it twice a week, others are asking to eat less fats and keep good fats in the blood on higher side. Ramipril is ACE inhibitor with its own side effects , it is given to bring down BP. You can try Safe Beta Blockers like Metoprolol which is protective for heart also, Monitor the dose accordingly. I am having sugar fasting 258 and sugar pp 410. I am suffering from glumerlo nephritis and thyroid as well. Earlier my sugar level was below 150. My doctor has advised insulin 4-4-2 points daily. My other medicines are ramipril 5 mg, febutaz 40 mg, atrovastine 20 mg, eltroxin 200 micro mg. My urine protein is normal but urine sugar is ++++. In your opinion, should I start with insulin or some other medicines can be suggested by you?

I am diabetic on insugen 30/70 refill injection, glycomet gp2, ppg 0.3 mg and other drugs. I am also hypertensive on ramipril 5 mg and amlodipine 5 mg. Since last 15 days there is severe itching on the upper side of my penis. I tried previously used creams such as terbinafine (fungotek, fdc). This proved useless. Then I tried mupirocin (t-bact), which is also proved useless. The irritation is just as it is. Please advice what is the correct skin cream and tablets.

Sir please check your sugars may b because of uncontrolled sugar tou have developed fungal infection (balanitis) we can treat it by a course of antifungal tablet for 3 days and antifungal cream for local application but once sugar is under control infection will also settle and will not reappear. If sugar is not controlled we will have to modify your medicines with more safer medicines according to your age and try getting rid of insulin.

My mom is prescribed tab. Quittipine 75 mg morning and 100 mg night and tab. Ramipril 5 mg after noon. She is on this medication since 15 days. From 10 days her pulse rate is about 112 per minute in morning and 123 per minute in evening. After 5p. M. Anxiety increases. She is on tab. Thyroxine 25 mg and tab. Glycomet 500 mg. Please suggest medicine to lower pulse rate and anxiety.

I am diabetic on insugen 30/70 refill injection, glycomet gp2, ppg 0.3 mg and other drugs. I am also hypertensive on ramipril 5 mg and amlodipine 5 mg. My query is related to hypertension and not on diabetic problem. I am taking the above medicines for last 5 years on hypertension but my hypertension is more than 160/75. It shoots to 175 frequently. I began treadmill jogging exercise for 1 hour every day and then hypertension reduces to about 150/72. If I do not jog for 1 day, hypertension goes back to 160/170. I am consuming ramipril 5 mg + amlodipine 5 mg everyday, once before lunch. The hypertension is not at all reduced with these drugs but only by jogging. I am 60 years old and jogging for 1 hour is very strenuous, leading to knee pain frequently. Suggest replacement drugs for hypertension.

You are very much aware and concerned about your health and doing fine as evident from your description. First thing you should do is to increase the dose amlodipine to 10 mg and regular check of your bp. If if is still not coming down then it would be better to add and/or replace another medicines.
