I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse and regurgitation 6 months ago. I was prescribed beta blockers. And I was referred to psychiatrist also and he had prescribed me venlafaxine and valproate and clonazepam. I am still on these medicines still having pain in right chest, shivering, headache, giddiness, upset mind. My B 12 level is 1880. My weight was 52 at that time and no W its 70.

Please take some natural medicine along with your current medicine so that drugs can be reduced with positive health

I am 51 year old and having depression or anxiety. Doctor treated me since 2006 and then I found some relief but lastly I am taking only 2 medicines alprazolam 0.25 mg & propranolol 10 mg daily at night and in the early hour I take clonazepam 2 mg daily which gives me relief and I can do my work. I have some problems with mouth dryness and also back pain (may be working hours on computer) and also increased uric acid for some time and I avoided some high proteins and dairy products and using black tea with ginger and lemon so it is now control but I am feeling some memory loss and tiredness and also tears in the eyes. Suggest me for the complete remedy for depression and anxiety. Write to me only near by the agra doctors. Thanks.

Propranolol is fine, but alprazolam on a longer run is highly harmful. I am sure the treating doctor is not a specialist. Kindly consult a psychiatrist for recovery.

Try cbt. It is cognitive behaviour therapy. It proved to be very effective in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Heart palpitation and very exhausted on 14th this month. So I went to the er on the same day. But after taking ecg, check bp and sugar they sent me back home saying everything is normal. Then, on 19th night I visited the er again. Doctor gave me clonazepam propranolol saying that I might be suffering from anxiety. Then iv fluid was administered on 19th this month. My health feels improve but still tiredness while breathing. All my reports cbc, echo, bp, cholesterol, thyroid, wbc, came normal. Still now no fever .and throat pain. I suspect it might be severe dehydration. If so how many does it takes to recover?

its good to know that the reports came are of normal value.
Generally signs of dehydration are-
being very thirsty or increased thirst, a dry tongue, fatigue, confusion, irritation
headaches are mostly there. Muscle cramps are present. Dark scanty urine. Also fever may precipitate rarely.
So if your suspect dehydration, then the option you should go with is to adequately hydrate yourself.

My father is 54 years old he had history of schizophrenia 15-16 years back. He was doing good and was staying in village. Recently he has moved with us 2 months back. He was apparently well but from past 10-15 days was facing difficulty in sleeping followed by excessive talks, extra spiritual and knowledgeable things. We consulted a local Physician and started on Tab. Petril Clonazepam 0.5 mg in night and Tab. Quetiapine 25 mg. He slept well for 2-3 nights but on getting up has excessive talking. Whether we should increase this dose or switch to some other.

Since he is already on medication I suggest you talk to your treating Psychiatrist and convey his current symptoms to them. It is possible that some changes in medication dosages will help improve the symptoms. As they are familiar with his history it is always better to have a discussion with them regarding this situation.

Petril (clonazepam) is used to treat anxiety disorders. It is proven effective drug for anxiety. Sleep disturbance is one of the symptoms of anxiety disorder.
There are other primary anti anxiety medications like ssri, snri and tca. There is a strong scientific research evidence for these medicines for anxiety treatment.

Is it true that beta blockers can make a man sexually inactive. I have been taking propranolol since 7 years bcos of palpitations and I am also hypertensive. Is there any alternative bcos doctors keep telling me that I will continue taking it. I am also taking lisinopril 5 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12. 5mp daily and propranolol 20 mg twice daily.

Beta blocker can cause erectile dysfunction in some people not all and that too is completely reversible once you stop it. If you do not have any sexual side effects at present then no need to stop it and no need to worry. There won't be any permanent damage. If you have any sexual symptoms at present then consult for medicine change.

I am 46 year old and have problem with depression. I am taking Ventalex 500 mg and stop after recovery. Recently I have started petril 0.25 mg. Its safe to take alone this medicine. My depression is not bad.

Dear Alpana,
Petril being a benzodiazepine drug, you may become dependent on it. When you are not depressed, avoid petril. If depressed, go in for antidepressant.

Hi. As I have high anxiety disorder and my b.p never reads normal in a clinic. It shoots up from 115/75 to 170/110. Is there any s.o.s. Medicine which I can take before taking the bp as I have a heart condition and want to know my actual b.p sans anxiety. Presently taking clonazepam, but it is not helping in this case. Rgds.

You are taking right medicines - beta blockers for anxiety disorder. Yes you can take an extra dose when needed but try to remain calm through yoga and meditation.
