Hello, simple answer is with controlled release (cr) preparation, paroxetine shall remain in blood stream for longer time & will have less chance of adverse side effects like dry mouth, sleepiness etc. So, depending upon a patients profile psychiatrist shall choose whether paroxetine plain or paroxetine-cr is of better use.

Hello Lybrate user, thank you for your query. The dose depends on the condition for which paroxetine has been prescribed. Depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance or something else. The usual dose range is 12. 5 mg to 75 mg although 75 mg is usually not required. Hope this helps. Good luck and best wishes! if you wish for a detailed consultation for your problem, would be happy to help. Thank you.
