I am suffering from dizziness, loss of balance, head movement from past 6 months. I consult a ent he told me you r suffering from mal requirement syndrome and has given me medicine oxetol and clonax. But its being one month I did not get any relief. Doctor asked me to continue medicine. But my question is dis medicine safe to use. As it is sleeping pills, anxiety medicine. Is it safe to use for longer time. And one month is enough to treat such disease or not.

Sleep is a very important part of anyone's life more so a bipolar person. You can come off of medication if you combine medication with therapy and do not have any relapses or breakdowns for three years at least. Then your doctor will wean you off of your medication with careful monitoring.

I'm 17 years old and I have been taking oxetol-150 mg. I take 3 pills a day, i.e 1.5 in morning and rest at night. Initially my doctor told me to continue it for 4 years in the year 2008. Now it's 2019 but I still have to take it. Those days (2008-2012) I used to take 2 pills a day but my doctor increased the dosage to 3 pills a day. I want to know whether I have to consume it lifelong?

You will have to follow the advise as stopping the drug would result in recurrence of fits you have. Doctors usually start decreasing the dose if you have been seizure free for atleast 1 year.

Question to doctor pediatric neurologist, my son 10 years getting stroke .presently taking medicines keppra 100 mg syrup 2.5 ml,epilex oral solution syrup 5 ml daily twice, with tablet oxetol 150 tablet 11/2 one & half .we are using since 1 year now the boy weight has increased, now the boy getting stroke for a few seconds. History of occipital seizure 3 years ago and taken tab oxetol 300 mg for two years. Medication stopped since one year under doctors advice after curing of the condition. No history of seizure since 1 year. No vision problems. No headache. No sinusitis. No problems with memory or body balance.

I took oxytol450. 2015 when I get pregnant then Dr. Prescribed LAMITOR OD 100. And now it continues. Both are used for preventing convulsions but are not same. Normally people on epileptic drugs visit neuro-physician repeatedly who decides any change required.

Myself 29 male suffering from bipolar disorder & taking medication from last six years. I have taken Depakote up to 1000 mg with Oxcarbazepine 600 And also tried Depakote 1000 with qutipin200 But never got satisfactory results for hypomanic symptoms as well as depression. Now I am on lithium 300 twice with lamotrigine 50 at night and feeling very much relaxed due to lithium effectiveness in hypomanic symptoms but since I started taking lithium from last one month I am having problem of constipation and also observed hair fall. Please suggest whether these side effects will go or I should stop talking lithium.

Nice to know that you feel better with lithium and lamotrigine.
Lithium is time tested effective tablet for bipolar disorder, especially for hypomania.
Constipation is NOT a side effect of lithium. On the other hand, lithium being a salt causes loose motions in few persons. Find other causes for constipation and settle them continuing lithium.
Hair fall is due to Depakote that you have taken before one month. NOT due to lithium. It will settle down by itself. Otherw...more

I have been gaining too much weight since my asd closure back in 2014 december (first year mbbs. Until then I used to have a plateau weight of max 54 kg. Now i'm 81.80 kg and since 2015 i'm on psy meds (currently on oxcarbazepine 450 and sertraline 100 - both od). I took a usg in 2017 and was diagnosed with pcos. Currently i'm trying to lose weight but futile. I would like to know if there is any supplement (other than metformin to reduce insulin resistance) which might help me accelerate the weight loss.

Two years back she was having pain in knees. After sitting she the pain was worst. After seeing a physician we went to a neurologist. He said that certain nerves were pinched after an x ray. She was prescribed pregabalin and some other medicines. After two months she got a fit lasting for a minute only. We stopped that medicine and went to another neurologist. He said that there is no problem with nervous system and that knee pain is due to weight. He advised for a CT scan which was normal. However he prescribed Oxetol 300 mg and 450 mg for 3 years. After one month she was tired with the medicine and stopped. Everything was normal for two years. Then again she was having severe pain in leg. We went to another physician and he gave medicines for neuropathic pain of which pregabalin was a medicine. After using for one month she got a fit during night. This time the duration was even shorter. Both times it happened when she awoke in night and fainted. She told a feeling of anxiety that night before sleeping and told her head went numb or cold. We went to physician. He checked history stopped all medicines only giving oxetol 300mg in the morning and 450mg in the evening. Two months passed and she is fine. Very slight pain in knees also. But the doctor says she had to take this medicine for 5 years. Please advice us. We do not know whether she is having epilepsy or it was side effect of the medicines given for neuropathic pain.

I do not think it is becase of side effect. It is because of epilepsy only. And she need to continue the treatment for 5 yrs. Even if she donot have epilepsy this drugs wil not harm her.
