Probably he is suffering from breath holding condition. If it is breath holding, it may go on its own after some time and earlier if you do not pay attention to it. But it is better to consult pediatrician to ascertain real ailment as he suffered from seizure in infancy.

Hypothyroidism and siezures (probably epilepsy) are tow totally different conditions. Both need to be treated with specific drugs. Treatment for seizures is invariably goes on for many years. As regards hypothyroidism, once it is diagnosed, the condition remains for lifetime. Therefore, treatment has to be continued for the whole life. Nice to know that you feel better with lithium and lamotrigine.
Lithium is time tested effective tablet for bipolar disorder, especially for hypomania.
Constipation is NOT a side effect of lithium. On the other hand, lithium being a salt causes loose motions in few persons. Find other causes for constipation and settle them continuing lithium.
