For your age if medicine are not causing any problem you should continue with same as I would like to keep your sugars as normal as possible without any problem.

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Apart from above medications I think you should take short course of insulin like mixtard 30/70 twice daily with regular physical activity along with proper diabetic diet including timely intake and avoiding oily, fatty and fried items plus avoiding sugary items. Take proper timing of sleep. After reaching optimal level of blood sugar you can gradually taper the insulin and can be stopped provided strict follow up of diet, physical activity, oral drugs. it seems like secondary drug failure of diabetes medicine. You need to work on detailed diabetes management that includes diet and exercise also. As long as sugar levels are concerned it is advisable you to add insulin therapy at present as sugar levels are way above normal readings. Weakness you are having is possibly due to high blood sugars.
