Sir, I strongly recommend that you take him for counseling too. The combination of medication with therapy will definitely help in recovering from this condition and eventually stopping the medication. Anxiety has all to do with fear and your inability (or so you would tend to think) to handle the same. Fear is based on looking too much into the future and imagining things that usually do not tend to happen (usually 90% of your fears will not happen) and expecting too much out of yourself. Hello. I'm sorry to hear that you are going through these problems. It would be helpful if you could elaborate on the neurological problems and what exactly happens if you reduce the dose. The medicines prescribed do not usually cause any major neurological problems. But if you desire to adjust the doses, I suggest you consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible.

Since he is already on medication I suggest you talk to your treating Psychiatrist and convey his current symptoms to them. It is possible that some changes in medication dosages will help improve the symptoms. As they are familiar with his history it is always better to have a discussion with them regarding this situation.

Dear lybrate-user, clonazepam is habit forming and over time it starts to lose its efficacy. Meaning, in the beginning, a 0.25 mg dose would put you to sleep, over a period of time, you will find difficulty sleeping at same dose. Now that you have completed 3 years with clonazepam, I would suggest you to try to find an alternative before stopping it. There are several herbal medicines available that help in sleep management. You may consult me for that.
As for clonazepam + escitalopram combi...more

Dear Alpana,
Petril being a benzodiazepine drug, you may become dependent on it. When you are not depressed, avoid petril. If depressed, go in for antidepressant.

Hi, for bipolar disorder, mood stabilizer with antipsychotic (single is sufficient if in adequate dose) clonazepam should be tapper off in 4 to 6 weeks or can be taken sos so reconsult your doctor. Not be come in addiction if you take in proper guidance of your psychiatrist.
