Hello, if the gums are swollen in a particular region where the tooth is root canal treated and crown is placed it is because of food deposit between the tooth and the gums and that area needs deep cleaning and after that you have to maintain the oral hygeine.
Rest if its generalised in all your mouth than either it could be because of deposits which requires geneal or deep cleaning or it could be because of any deficiency or any allergy.
Visit a dentist
thanks.

Hi ,
its good that you are aware of your problem yourself. The condition is known as" oral submucous fibrosis" in dental terms and it results due to tobacco chewing in any form (gutkha, khaini, pan masala etc.). If you want to get cured you have to immediately stop the habit of gutkha chewing. Take green tea and lots of tomatoes as they contain antioxidant. Eat lots of sugar free chewing gums.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Chewing tobacco addiction comes under SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND ADDICTION. Deaddiction treatment is best suited for such addictions. Medically assisted drug detoxification or alcohol detoxification alone is ineffective as a treatment for addiction. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) recommends detoxification followed by both medication (where applicable) and behavioral therapy, followed by relapse prevention.

Chewing a sugarless gum after your meal for around 20 minutes freshens your breath and also make the leftover food particles cling to it.
