Hi doctors team, I have been taking nexito 20 mg (ecslitopram) from nearly 1 year for ocd (harm & repetitive thoughts). Now since I am well versed in mindfulness, meditation yoga, 7 chakra balancing, pulling back, awareness, self compassion, being in the moment. My kundalini energies is way too balanced and I find myself very deep content and peaceful person. Present scenario:- because of escitalopram and heavy dose my digestive system has weaken and nearly from month and two I am getting heavy mouth ulcers. I have tried everything since I am a video person (effects on gut) like taking papaya, non oily food, fibres, warm water, still this issue is persisting of digestion & constipation. I came to the conclusion that its because of lexapro - nexito. Now my question is since I am finding myself very much calm, controlled, stable with 100% fine and easily noticing and letting go thoughts. How should I taper of lexapro since I have read to taper 25% and its half life is also 27 hr?

The mouth ulcers may be due to b-complex deficiency. Please take a multivitamin tablet for atleast 15 days and see if that improves. If you have been maintaining well on nexito for almost 6 months atleast, then you can taper it slowly over every few weeks. Depending on whether your ocd symptoms recur or not you can reduce the dose. However due to the waxing and waning nature of ocd I would advise you to continue on a minimum effective dose. For now you can reduce nexito to 15 mg daily. Continue ...more

Abrupt stopping may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as flu-like symptoms, headache, dizziness, insomnia, restlessness and nausea. These symptoms usually appear during the first few days after stopping treatment and go away after a few days. If the symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor immediately. For sexual desire rehabilitation you are advised go natural. Consult for tips. If need be you may later go for Ayurvedic herbals for best sexual strength. Because your age is 26 only, you can b...more

Hello lybrate-user. As you have been prescribed nexito forte, it's important to understand that it takes atleast 2-3 weeks to see it's effects. That is how it's mechanism of action is. I would strongly suggest you to not get disheartened and impatient and continue taking the medication. Also, don't change the dosage on your own and only take the dose prescribed to you. Taking a higher dose than required can cause avoidable side effects. If you have any doubts regarding your treatment, you can al...more

I am suffering from anxiety from one year - it causes palpitation, sweating, temperature sensitivity and also results in panic attacks sometimes. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism so was put on thyronorm 50 mcg. With that, I was put on nexito 5 mg which was changed to 10 and 20 mg. However, after 6 months when it was stopped, symptoms bounced back in 2 months - again I was on nexito for 3 months and after stopping, symptoms bounced back once more. This time, they are more severe and even causing me food phobia and I bang my head against wall sometimes. Do not know why my condition is deteriorating - psychiatrists only make on and off on nexito which I do not feel is going fine and just making me addictive to it - also, this is making me drowsy and lethargy so can not work properly in office. I want to know if there are any tests to know that is anxiety only and what can be root cause (as there are no specific reasons for anxiety for me) - any other treatment is possible.

Anxiety can result from reduced serotonin in your brain, the reason why SSRI drugs like nexito (escitalopram) is helping. Since you are not able to produce it on your own you are getting relapse of the symptoms on stopping. So make up your mind that you have to take the same long time even life time. There are lots of people with anxiety like that. So first learn the medical science about your disorder and take regular treatment. All the best.

Stress patients worry too much. Stress in today’s day & age where stress is high, feelings of frustration can emerge. It is our perception that can change our current negative situation into a healthy & positive one. Another way of perceiving these feelings of frustration can be by looking at them as an opportunity to push ourselves to go that little extra mile until we achieve our objective. However, there are times when we all can go around in circles; and being in this space can be quite upse...more

It is not good continue medicine. It leads side effects. Better to come out from medicine. For depression psychological counselling will helps very much. I think you never attend for counselling. Strong counselling sessions are required. Use the medicine whenever you feel normal then leave it. It is best as soon as possible you should come out from the medicine. Years together you use your mind addicted to medicine. Suppose in future you cannot sleep properly without medicine. It is always bette...more

There is nothing called better or inferior. All medications are tailored to an individual depending on the symptoms, response and tolerability. Over the Counter self medication and self medication by googling is dangerous to one's body and mind. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine and can cause severe dependence and side effects on a longer run. Escitalopram ad Sertraline are SSRI's and need to be prescribed carefully adjusting/ titrating dosage by a psychiatrist. Hope this info helps.
