I have been prescribed fexofenadine hydrochloride & montelukast tablets for my tonsils and I have been using it for 2 weeks and still told me to continue the medicine. So I just want to know that if its okay to consume them for the allergic reaction happening to my tonsils and also if I consume them for long term will they effect me anyhow?

It's not of much adverse effects but it's unlikely to give such tablets for tonsil infection. It will be better if you could give more details on this for a better treatment suggestions.

Dear lybrate-user, there are no known cases of addiction to monteleukast. Try to aviod taking the said medicine and I can assure you nothing will happen.

do you have asthma or due you have productive cough?
since when are you facing this issue.
till you inform about this.. meanwhile avoid AC Exposure, all cold and sour foods. and please mention which inhaler are you taking, if it's oral inhaler, it is to be held between lips and teeth very tight with lips closed, when you press the pump take deep inhalation

it is safe but I would not recommend for a month, check with her foods, avoid all cold and sour foods , if the kid plays with water , avoid it, give her warm milk.
if it's a peditrician who advised for 1 month, the you can go ahead

Hi Lybrate User, At initial level you need to do cbc, s. Ige and pft and then we can plan about allergy testing and subsequent immunotherapy, till then observe your symptoms, when they get triggered? By what and any specific food, place or substance causes an outbreak of cold, try to avoid the things which you are aware of that causes cold. Follow up with a pulmonologist.

Doctor I am 20 years old suffering from allergy rhinitis, symptoms including severe running nose, persistent sneezing, watery eyes etc, I consulted doctor he made absolute eosinophil count test, and the count was more than normal range, He prescribed antihistamines (levocetirizine and montelukast tablets), Probiotics, steroids,for 15 days, Even After using medicines, The symptoms Have been not reduced, The same worst condition, I tried to manage the symptoms in a lot of ways, But none of them worked, Then I started using levocetirizine and montelukast again even after (15 days) the duration for which the doctor prescribed with out consulting doctor ,This antihistamine works for 24 hrs, With out this medicine I can't socialize, This medicine given me allot of relief, and I can't see any allergy rhinitis symptoms when I use this medicine, Is it safe to use levocetirizine and montelukast for long duration? It is safe to use this combination for long duration. But it is better to undergo basic investigation to rule out other causes.

In my opinion combine budecart 100 with formetrol a long acting beta 2 agonist 200, to be given by spacer and reduce dependence on levolin inhalation. In good control asthmatics need of levolin inh. Should be nil /less than once/week. This combination is available in market with different name like budamate 100/200.
