Mirena is considered to be best among all the options available like oral contaceptives, intrauterine devices and surgical procedures as it reduces nearly 85 % of blood loss after 3-6 months of use and nearly 95 % after a year of use. It helps to improve anemia to women who suffers due to heavy bleeding and also preserve your future fertility as compared to surgical procedures like endometrial ablations etc.

Hello.
Mirena is a hormonal (progestin) iud. Some breast cancers are hormone sensitive and hence mirena is not advised for patients suffering from or at risk of developing breast cancer. However, there is no definite evidence at present that mirena increases the risk of breast cancers, although it is suggested to decrease risk of endometrial cancer.
If you are still concerned, you may opt for a non-hormonal iud. Pls discuss with your doctor regarding differences in efficacy of the two.more

All medicines should be taken with plain water. Having said that, I don't think anyone could vouch for the efficacy of a medicine. But it should work. What is the problem?
