Metolar contains metoprolol which is a beta adrenergic blocker. It's useful in those with heart problems as in decreases the pulse rate thereby decreasing the oxygen consumption of the heart.

It's best not to discontinue medicine but at the same time not needed if BP is controlled nicely Please check your pulse rate/heart rate and BP, can easily be done with an automatic BP monitor Will stop metolar cL if pulse rate is not high Do let me know the general readings.

Hi,
Yes Amtas AT is a more powerful antihypertensive than Metoprolol XL.
Amtas AT contain combination of 2 salts.
Metro XL has just a salt.
So I guess you must be having high BP even on Metro XL and that is why he changed to the new drug.

Hi, Since it's an emergency state it's okay if she used 1 dose of metoprolol tablet. It's category c drug. Which means no controlled studies in human pregnant women is conducted so far. Moreover, the condition is emergency and benefit overweight the risk. So, Please do not worry.

Your pulse rate of 122 is the upper limit of normal pregnant women. Kindly recheck at different occasion before starting the medicine. As metoprolol is category c drug. Which means no studies in human or animal done sufficiently to know its effect on pregnant women.
